About Me

i am the first born in a family of five. i was brought by my mother and a step father. my step father is the only bread winner. after doing my Kenya certificate of secondary education i did fairly well but i did not qualify to join as a government sponsored student in the university and my parents didn't have money to take me to college. so i went to stay with my uncle who owns a small piece of land near a river. i noticed that my uncle was not utilizing the land so i talked to him and he allowed me to do some cultivation in the land. i specialized mainly on vegetables because they are always on demand and they mature faster. i sell the vegetables locally to my neighbors and i take some to the market. i use the money from the business to support my self and am also planning to start saving some because i want to join college.

My Business

My business is a farming business i specialize mainly with the cultivation of vegetables such as kale, cabbages, spinach, tomatoes, sweet pepper, pepper and onions. i do this in small scale. there is high demand for my products because most of the farmers in these areas grow maize and wheat. most people prefer my products because they get them fresh from the farm and at a fair price. the business is profitable because i have a wide base of customers and also i my products are available throughout the year even during the dry season as i can irrigate the crops with the water from the stream. i get an average of KES 16000 monthly.

Loan Proposal

Currently I irrigate my crops using the manual method where I just draw water from the river using a container and irrigate the crops using an irrigating can. this process is very tiresome and limits the amount of the portion of land I can cultivate during the dry seasons. I intend to use this loan to acquire a leg press pump from David and Shirtliff limited at a cost KES 13,500. This will enable me to cultivate a lager portion of land during dry seasons which will lead to more yields hence more profits.

I find this loan strange. Geofery's profile says 100% repayments but the loan has been written off since there have been no payments for many months...Is this a problem with the system?

dear zidisha i want to reschedule my loan repayment due to unavoidable circumstances . i fumigated the plants and the yield was not that bad but the problem was that my competitors yield were more healthy than mine so there produce fetched more in the market so i had to sell mine at very low prices in order to avoid further losses. this led me to incur heavy losses but hopefully in the next season am expecting better yields as i intend to be more careful.

i would like to reschedule my loan because i can not repay as scheduled earlier because i encountered losses in my harvest my crops were attacked by tomato blight this has reduced my yields but. i used some amount from the loan to fumigate them i hope everything will be back to normal so that i could stick to my earlier repayment schedule.
