About Me

My name is Gladys Wangechi Wambugu from a family of five my mum and dad two brothers and one sister. I grew up in central Kenya Nyeri county, Tetu village. I went to Chinga Girls High School in Nyeri where completed my secondary school education. I then went to Dedan Kimathi University where I completed my bachelor’s degree in Interior design and Fashion. I thought of doing something to keep me busy rather idling waiting to embark on my Masters. That is when I engaged myself to the current business that I am doing.

My Business

I run a three in one business – the main one being the shop where there is a steady flow of shoppers who buy goods worth anything from $0.5 to $20 per shopper. I also sell gas cylinders in quantities of 3kg and 13kg at a retail price of $7 and $26 respectively. I recently started a money transfer section (called M-Pesa) locally where I serve about 50 clients daily.
The three departments give me a net profit of about $470 per month – after paying the rent, other bills and salaries.
My business requires heavy investment for buying stock especially the gas section. I sometimes fail to cope with the demand of the gas cylinders since my stock gets depleted very fast especially during the end-month when most workers get paid. I have decided to join Zidisha to access credit which will enable me to build up my stock as this will bring satisfaction to my customers.

Loan Proposal

When I get this loan,it will help me improve on my shop project in the following ways;,buying of stock estimated at 30 dollars, buying of more airtime credit cards and paying for extra expenses such as electricity bills and wages of my only shop assistant. This small loan I will be able to see some returns for my shop and especially in terms of profit. The returns will then help expand my shop by increasing the number of airtime credit cards. I should supported because I can't afford single handedly to meet full financial requirements of the shop due to the increased costs of running such a business.
