About Me

I am a married businessman living in Kiptangwanyi shopping center. Kiptangwanyi shopping center is about 45 kilometers from Nakur town where we do most of our shopping and also administrative issues. I live in plot number 15 at the shopping center house number one. I have five children who are in school. I operate a cereals shop at the shopping center and usually rely wholly on this business in order to feed and also meet the basic needs of my family. I also pay school fess of my family from this business. My family assists me in farming and the produce we get from the farm is consumed by the family thus reducing the demand for purchasing food. The surplus cereals are usually brought to the shop where I sell it to my customers and also for storage. This business is good as the cereals are a basic commodity that is consumed by all household. Thus the market for cereals is always constant. I to increase the stock of my business with the loan that I will get from Zidisha organization. I will also purchase other forms of cereals such as wheat.

My Business

My business entails a cereals shop at the shopping center. This shop I started a long time ago and it has been the sole source of living for the whole of my family. We rely on this business in order to sustain our basic needs and also to meet the education needs of our daughters and sons. The business is situated in a suitable location and thus providing me with a wide range of customers. I serve many customers within the locality and sometimes I do take my products to Nairobi and some parts of Eastern province where there is good market for the products especially during the dry season. Maize is the most common commodity that has a wide range of customers. This is because it happens to bet the stable food in Kenya. It can be converted into many sources of food such as ugali. It can be milled and used to cook porridge. The main challenges that this business encounter is lack of enough funds to expand the business, frequent droughts that affect the productivity of the area and poor roads especially during the dry season.
