About Me

I am married with five children with fouty year old, my name Cryrus Njoroge Kamau,I was born on year 1962 at Rift valler provice in lodian (marioshoni) in Kenya. I join my primary education until class seven due to lack of money for the fees I could not to make to continue with education, after completing my primary education I married Ruth Wangari in year 1987 after that I was blessed with five childrens my first born being a boy John Kanyi,Cathrene Wairimu and my last born being Mickle Muhia who is now three year old ,during those day my work was farming but in small scale at my one acre piece of land after three year that where I decided to rent a shamba for farming and after two year I was able to raise some money for me to start renting land in our nearby land by the name nyariada a business which is profitable because the variety is very demanding in Nakuru county. I joined Gachuma self help group where I have been a member till now, and after collecting some money from the business I was able to raise money enough for me to buy a plot (plot number 189) At Tangi-tano at a price of ksh35000) where i have build houses for renting which is approximately 6km from Kiptangwanyi tranding center and two kilometer from munanda trading center town which is our nearest tranding center..I am born again Christian and a follower of Akisiraeli Church of Kenya which is within our locality at Tangi-tano, After been exposed to the area I decided to start to rented more piece of land in the area of which I will be producing my own farm product and sell to within our area and its environs, but I lack money to rent a bigger piece of land thus I decided to have some money from our group and applied a loan of 60000 on which I have fully repaid. I live in plot number 189 near the trading shopping center where I carry out my business of farming the product I get from my piece of land I rent. My business include selling tomato and othe vegetable like sukumawiki ,cabbage and other in large quantity within Tangi-tano and its environs.

My business is mixed farming
My business includes mixed farming,i.e planting of maize ,bean ,tomatoes and green vegetable eg sukumawiki cabbages ,carrot ,my business entail renting of shambas at nyarianda two kilomwter from our home (gachuma) and six kilometer from munada trading center where by many people here usually rent shambas near the river which is well known at our place for production of this product especially tomatoes,where by usally rely on good climate which is fevourable for this variety. I decided to start the business of mixed farming after realize there is a ready market for this product especially tomatoes and maize because the place is well known in Nakuru county in producing tomatoes/maize and distributing in various part of our mojor town like Nairobi and there is no season for planting the crop even in dry season because we always a wet climate from our nearby forest emburu forest which make it cool and wet throughout the year for maize,tomatoes and other vegetable also the land have ever been cultivated thus it is the first time to be cultivated making it season after season and the place is fertile. The businesses capture 90 percent of the market share in our area and in Nakuru county in general due to availability of high produce thus making our place famous in producing tomatoes and maize, also the business is expected to grow due to the ready market of the product especially for tomatoes because many people from major town such as far as Nairobi and other big town come to buy tomatoes at this area and the mean of transport is available and the climate is favorable .They is a lot of demand of the product such as tomatoes, maize ,vegetable and fresh vegetable, also so many people here rely on this variety for livelihood because they buy at low price direct from our farm.
Most of the farmer in Nakuru county relies with maize and beans crop thus making few of us to benefit from our business. The business will be profitable because climate is favorable to us enabling us to produce much farm produce even in during dry season. The risk facing the business is fluctuation of price of the product when production is high and poor transport during the rainy season, main challenge facing these business is lack of money starting from lenting the shamba up to harvesting time need one to have a lot of money, I manage to coop with some because I will manage to store the produce when the price come down. The goal of the business will to get profit and to satisfy the customer needs, the business fall under agriculture industry which has been growing very fast for past few years and it is expecting to have a bright future in term of modern farming. My vision about my business is expand from small farming to large scale farming whereby most of the farmers have been in large scale farming thus giving motivation to practice the type of farming. My typical monthly cost is khs 500000, sale revenue is around ksh 25000 and profit is above 15000 but I am planning to earning more from the business.
