About Me

I was born among the Kakamega people,i am a luhya from an area commonly known as Lwanda,which means the Rock.This place is very rocky and there is very little arable land so my parents mostly did business and are still doing business,buying and selling scrap metal.We never had an easy life and due to the inability of my parents to afford healthcare some of my siblings passed away mostly due to malaria and pneumonia.I left my parents before finishing primary school,getting on lorries to supply sand with older men to construction sites,and i made enough money to help my parents and fellow brothers and sisters because our area had plenty of raw material.Rocks are a common material for making ballast and other housing material so in a day i would get paid enough money to buy maize and carry home for our family to feed.I would wake up at 3 am and wait on the road for lorries which came with available jobs for labourers,but since most of the good jobs were those headed far from home i eventually moved out and lived among the "roaming" men. I eventually started saving and even bought my own stock and moved to different towns ,buying and selling combs,lipstick,handkerchiefs and childrens toys,always backing my business by doing more construction work and injecting the days earnings into my sales.My parents are elderly and i now work with my brother,and i'm married but we do our best to send them some money every day.

My Business

I buy combs,toys,foodstuff and flour from major wholesalers in the town then i resell them directly to homes in the area or to persons that stop us in the streets.I usually buy stock worth approximately 35$ on Monday and sell making a profit of average of 10$ every four days.I then buy more stock depending on demand and resupply the items on the routes i take.I live with my family and brother in a small tin house where we park our bicycles and pay 20$ monthly rent so my costs are limited to rent and food. I have two children and hope to get them through secondary school and into medical school as one wants to be a doctor while the other wants to be a nurse.

Loan Proposal

I will buy soaps and perfumes at wholesale price of 20$ for a bundle of 3 boxes and 3 packs that at sale will profit me an average 15$ in all.I will also buy combs that move fast at 20$ for 40 standard combs that i will sell at 35$ in all making a profit of 15$. I will buy powdered soap/detergent at 40$ and buy packing paper at 3$,this soap i make a profit of 10$ for every 40$ purchase. I will buy toothbrushes with the 20$ and from each brush i will make 0.20 US cents. This improvement will help me buy a new bicycle that i can use to transport more goods to further places and will help me to buy a plot of land to put up a shop at the end of next year.
