About Me

My name is Simon Mwangi Kimani. Embakasi is my place of residence. This is a highly populated region urban village , 15 KM away from Nairobi city, the Kenyan capital . I am a husband of one and a father of two schooling kids. I decided to start a food-oriented business to feed to try and compete with other businessmen and women through sale of vegetables and fruits in a local Kiosk in the region. There are no shambas to till here and therefore I saw it wise to be bringing food for sale to the residents.

My Business

The main suppliers of my fruits are wholesalers in Marikiti, one of the major markets in Nairobi region. Those who supply me with vegetables are owners of the big gest fruit malls in Nairobi town. Apart from natural challenges like bad weather, droughts in the productive areas where we get our supplies usually do affect the business serious. Fruits are highly perishable and thus require to reach the market as soon as they are harvested. Therefore storage and preservation is very essential. This prompted me to have a fridge in my business and this would require some more finance. This will be my first priority with the loan that I will get Zidisha micro-finance.

Loan Proposal

I am glad for such a golden opportunity from Zidisha organization. The loan tha I will get I will use it to do the following. I wish to buy a fruit blender. This will enable me to make juices from the fruits that I sell. This is a good way of improving the business and the juice has a very high demand.

To be honest, even though action has been taken by the Zidisha community in 2013 to locate this borrower, it has been to no avail - I am beginning to suspect that we are just going to have to write this loan off.

Hello lenders - As a virtual volunteer working at Zidisha, I looked up our staff contact history with Mr. Simon Kimani. Unfortunately I could not find any indication that Mr. Kimani has been reached since the time of the disbursement of the loan, however, I was unable to do a complete search of our history, and it is more then possible that there has been some contact, and I have simply been unable to uncover it.
Starting in August, the team assigned to Zidisha loans that have fallen behind began to ask for assistance from community members in contacting Mr. Kimani.
I hope that there will soon be progress on the repayment of this loan, and I thank-you for your patience with the process.

    Dear fellow lenders,

As Simon has not responded, I left a message on the profile page of James Mwangi, who is Simon's volunteer mentor. James is mentor to a number of people, and has previously followed up on requests for assistance in relation to other people.

Let us hope that Simon is OK. A number of my other borrowers have suffered illness or theft leading to a delay in their repayments.

Thank you James for your efforts and this update. It seems that a number of people have been trying to contact Simon without success. I appreciate your efforts and hope that we will hear back from Simon soon.
