i am a kenyan citizen aged 30, married, educated . running a butchery. i am also a farmer, having a good number of livestock in my home.
my business is located at munada trading centre, i am a butcher, i do slaughter about 4 sheeps a week at a cost of 3500 each. a sheep may have 15 kg and 1 kg goes for kshs 300 hence (seling price) 300 x 15 x 4=18000 - (buying price) 14000= 4000. after deducting weekly expences ie. slaughter house fee, transport fee i approximately make kshs 3000 a week hence when i substract house rent and water bill i make kshs 7500 from my butchery. back home find my ever busy wife, she sells 5 kgs of milk at 25 per kg, totaling to apprx 3000 per month. she also sells eggs and other livestock products like eggs which after deducting all the expences i.e animal feeds adds to kshs 5000 a month. with this business i have managed to buy a plot 50 x 100 worthy 50000. i had secured a loan of kshs 100000 which i used to start livestock farming and my butchery, and the remaining amount used in building my three room mud house which we live with my family. challenges in the business includes competation, luck of money to expand my business, tribal clashes incurring to total loss.
I am grateful to Zidisha organization for your support towards improving my livelihood. I have done alot through the loan that I was granted by the organization. I wish to use this second loan that I will get from the organization to open another meat outlet at the shopping center. I hope to serve more customers in this area.
