About Me

My name is Joy Wairimu Ngugi I was born on 3rd January 1983 at Gilgil in Nakuru County. I joined Gilgil garrison ECD and later Gilgil garrison primary school for my basic education completing in 1996. In the year 1997 I joined Saint George’s high school in Nairobi for my o levels completing in the year 2000. After school I joined comboni polytechnics for a computer course for two years. In the year 2003 I was employed by an NGO that handles refugee affairs in northern Kenya where I worked for a couple of years until when my contract could no longer be renewed. I went back to my home in Gilgil town and decided to start self employment with my savings. I started chicken layers a business I carry out to date . I look forward to be a zidisha member.

My Business

My business Is basically specialized in keeping chicken layers for producing eggs for sale. I started this kind of business after I realized there is great demand for eggs in Gilgil town and beyond. i usually keep 1000 birds at all times which gives me an average of 20 treys of eggs every single day. This is capable of earning me ksh 5600 where 80% of this income goes to meet the over head cost of chicken feeds and the balance of 20% is what I can count as profit. My business supplies eggs to most shops and supermarket in Gilgil and the outside towns of Nakuru and to an extend, also to the city of Nairobi. My customers prefer to buy eggs from me because am cheaper than my competitors. My business does well as I am able to meet the running cost as well as my upkeep and salaries for my two workers. I have so far been able to purchase a plot and the construction of my residential house is underway. The only challenge my business faces is luck of enough capital to increase the number of birds for more eggs. With zidisha platform I will fulfill my life time dreams.

i am so thankful to the entire zidisha team for opening the door for me. i now have a chance to improve my business. i will add the number of chicken layers to produce more eggs for sale to meet the ever increasing demand in my home town and beyond. by so doing i will increase my profits and hence improve my lively hood.blessing to all my lenders as you contribute towards filling my bids on time.
