About Me

My name is Sophy Adhiambo,am 26 years old.I come from a family of five.I live in kawangware and work in yaya centre as a nanny. I did my primary school and completed in 2001 due to lack of fees i could not proceed with my education. At that time my mother was the sole provider when my dad had lost his job.She was taking care of the secondary fees for two of my elder siblings(i am the third born). So i came to nairobi and i have been doing odd jobs but am grateful since my hardwork has ensured i ever sleep hungry.Infact i help in supporting my younger siblings who are still in school.I have always wanted to start a business to boost my earnings. The business in mind is cereals business.I have managed to save some cash and since getting a loan from banks is quite hard for youths here in Kenya i have been unable to start.Nevertheless since my sister informed me about Zidisha,i knew i can now make it.Its unbelievable what impact Zidisha is having in lives of individuals.I am so grateful to the team who started it and those who lend money to individuals.

My Business

The business is cereal business and i have already gotten a shop in Kibera. Its by the roadside and from my research there are so many shops that sell different things except cereals. Therefore, i believe my business will do well and since Kibera is made up of so many people who depend on things like maize for flour, rice, beans, green grams, groundnuts etc, then i will use the opportunity well.In addition, i will sell things like eggs.As the days progress i will see whatever else is in demand and add to my stock. The risks involved are storage issues since the shop is small but since am starting small,i will find a spare room when the time comes.Since i will be working,am planning to leave my responsible and honest cousin to do the selling. However,i will still be keen and fully involved in the running of my business.Thank you so much for this opportunity to be able to make some of our dreams come true.God bless you all.

Loan Proposal

First and foremost i would like to thank everyone here at Zidisha. You are really touching lives in a big way.For my first loan, since I am starting a cereals shop and therefore will use this initial loan to make wood frames for placing my sacks of cereals.I will be able to repay it from my salary and when i get my second loan i will buy stock.Thanks.
