About Me

Am married to Antony chege. We hope to have our first born mid next year. We live in a rented house in Nakuru town. I pursued my education up to form four and was awarded a certificate. I ventured in to business in the 2005. I have been retailing second hand clothes specifically beddings and towels. Initially i was only to buy three bales of this items. I would then open it display each item for sale at my stall in Nakuru town. Today i can afford to buy five bales. Each bale costs sh7000 and can earn a revenue of about sh12000. Basically, a bale may take a week to be wholly bought. In a month am able to sell 5 bales earning a profit of between sh20000 to 25000 depending on the quality on the items i find in a bale. The biggest challenge in my business is finding unretailable items inside a bale yet no refunds can be given by the seller. My stall is located at a street junction which and is the first among many lining up down the road. Customer normolly would check an item in my stall beforre they proceed downwards. I complement their loyalty by offering high quality items at good prices.

NEED FOR A LOAN
I intend to, given finances, expand my business further and start selling bales to reduce the risk of finding unretailable items in bales. Each bale in the markets on the outskirts of the town can be sold at sh 10000 leaving profit of sh3000. I would wish to begin this expansion with a loan of sh50000.

My Business

My business is in nakuru town within the Central business district. I run in my own stall.Every other day its awash with beddings (bed covers and mattress covers) and towels of all colours and sizes.

Loan Proposal

I first want to register my appreciations for your assistance in making my business what it is today. With the loan that you awarded me, am feeling rejuvenated as a business lady and i believe my future is blight. I count a larger stock, wider variety, financial Independence and a friendly loan all courtersy of zidisha.
I now intend to use the above loan if awarded to repackage my business as follows. Currently i operate my business from a stall beside a road in town. From the income of my business i have managed to hire a room in a commercial building next to where am currently for a period of six months at sh 32000. The room is more specials which requires more stock. I intend to start selling men second hand shirts. To begin the new area i would buy two bales of the shirts at an average of sh 10000 per bale. Those shirts would require hangers and to ironed before they are displayed all at a cost of 3000. On top of that i intend to increase my stock of bed covers and towels by two bales each at cost of sh 10000 - sh 12000. Prices keep on fluctuating depending on the general demand. My new premise is lockable and has light so ironing will done from within. That reduces the ironing expenses and eliminates the cost transporting the stock to and out of the store everyday. Now women who constitute majority of my customers can come in and buy in a calm place away from dust and wind. Those already in the business of shirts are talking of good sales and hence my encouragement. After all, women are the ones who buy clothes for their families and i want to capitalize on that. I look forward to a positive response.

    Dear lenders,

My name is Traci Yoshiyama and I am Zidisha's Client Relationship Manager in Kenya.

I recently spoke with Ms. Wairimu and she has fully recovered from her operation! Although this is good news, her business has suffered over the past few months. While she was sick, she gave her merchandise to someone to sell upcountry. She has not heard from or seen this person again, losing both her money and her stock. Ms. Wairimu has had to start all over again. Despite this loss, she is still confident that things will pick up.

I am glad to hear that she is now healthy and back at work. Best of luck to you Ms. Wairimu!

    Hi everyone!

Our Client Relationship Manager met with Recheal a few weeks back. Here is a great video he took outside of Recheal's shop, and an interview he preformed with her! Here is the link: youtu.be/OiVbLNzeKh4

Hope all is going well! Perhaps the unsalable material in the bales could be made into quilts or other items to help increase profit for your store?

Hi something. I tried out your idea and got positive results. I took some of the unsalable materials to a tailer who converted them to small bags for kindergarden children. with some slight decorations to make them beautiful, they were readily bought. Not much is going to waste. If its not school bags then the same materials are cut into pieces that can wipe tables at homes. Thank you for your idea. By the way i have fully paid my first loan and am just about to apply for another. check my page.

Hi Recheal -- great idea for making bags for kindergardeners out of used clothes! If you can, would be great if you could post a photo of these. Also, do you know where the bales of used clothes come from?

Politics gets dirtier in kenya. That the president did some appointments without consulting his coalation partner P.M Raila is now the big issue in our country. Both the presidents and p.m sides are accusing each other of peddling romours. We as kenyans are waiting with baited breath to see how events unfold esp with regard to the implementation of the new constitution. My hope is that politics will not affect my business.
