About Me

Hello lenders, thank you for allowing me to join your website. Am a 21 years old man from a family of seven. I have just Join College to study mechanical engineering in Rift valley institute Nakuru. I lost my dad when I was in form one and ever since then life has been quite a challenge for me and my siblings. So to earn some income, after I cleared my secondary school studies, I started planting some vegetables in our family plot. I normally plant Kales (Sukuma wiki), beans, maize and pepper.

And as per now I have 10 clients who run some small food kiosks in the neighborhood and some of our neighbors also purchase from our small piece of plot. Part of my income is used to pay for part of my tuition fee and also my up keep in College. Personally I want to lease a bigger piece of land and increase my production and in the future I plan to purchase my very own piece of land.

My Business

My family allocated me a 75 by 75 meter piece of plot where I do my farming. In the piece of land I have planted some Kales, beans, maize and pepper, but my main source of income is Kales (Sukuma wiki). I decided to plant Kales because it is a staple food in Kenya which is normally served with ugali and the demand for fresh Kales is high in Nakuru. And the middle and lower class families in Kenya consume Kales at least once a day. I have been farming for the last three years and as per now my monthly gross pay amounts to Ksh 30,000. I normally spend Ksh 2,000 on transport, Ksh 250 on water and Ksh 750 on insecticides. So my net pay amounts to Ksh 17, 000.

Loan Proposal

I have been using the farm for more than two years so the fertility of the land has declined, in fact the leaves have started yellowing and purpling (which is the main sign of phosphorus deficiency in the farm). so I will use half of the loan to purchase some compound fertilizer to top dress the farm. And this being the rainy season the production has increased so I will used Ksh 2,000 to hire a motor cycle to help me transport the produce to my clients twice a week. the remainder of the loan will be used to purchase some more pepper seeds and purchasing more sacks for carrying the kales and the beans which I plan to harvest by end month.
