    Dear Lenders,
This is Analin Saturria McGregor, Communications Associate with Zidisha.
Our Volunteer Mentor Dan Njiriri got back to us with some sad news about Paul.
After successfully receiving funding on his Zidisha loan, Paul purchased a motorcycle and hired a driver to add upon his "boda boda" (moto-taxi) business. Just before Christmas, however, the driver got into an accident and fled the scene. Paul has been unable to contact him ever since.
Upon arriving at the scene of the hit-and-run, the police traced the motorbike back to Paul being the owner. Because his bike was uninsured, Paul was taken into custody.
Since then, Paul has been released, but his bike is still seized by the police. Dan explained to us that Paul is trying to raise money as he can to get his bike back so he can get back to work, and make his first loan repayment.
This case is an example of some of the hurdles that individuals often face in developing countries. Sometimes, the system is so corrupted or there is so much red tape to go through (having the required technicalities of titles, deeds, insurances, etc.) that something as simple as an insurance policy can become a luxury that not everyone can afford. This often means working at a great personal risk, as sadly Paul is experiencing first hand.
We will keep you posted as we know more.

      Dear Paul and Analin,
I'm sorry to hear those sad news. In my opinion the loan repayment should be rescheduled as much as Paul requires, and with no extra interest whatsoever. But I believe it's not just up to me. What other options are possible?
      good luck Paul!
