About Me

My name is Trebina Gakii Rithaa. I was born on 12th Dec 1978 in Meru Central District. My former chief is senior chief John Gikunda Rachi. I’m the third born in my family. We have three boys and three girls. I started primary education from 1986 to 1994 and got my primary education certificate. Due to lack of school fees I stayed at home for one year so as to wait for my elder brother and sister to complete their secondary education. In 1996 I was admitted at kiangua Secondary school in Meru. In 1999 I completed my secondary education and got my certificate.
In 2000 I stayed at home while waiting for the form four results. At that time I was helping my parents in domestic works. January 2000 I applied for my national Identity card where I got it after two months. In March I was able to receive it and moved to Naivasha where I settled at my cousin’s home. During that time I helped my cousin in running her small shop. And in July 2000 I got a job through one of the sister in Christ Elizabeth at Nini Flowers Kenya Limited. From July I worked as a general worker for only two years only. In 2001 I got married and in 2002 I got my first born baby boy Samuel Gichuru. After resuming job from maternity leave I worked for only four months and in December 2002 I was promoted as a green house super visor where I continued with my duties properly. In 2008 I joined a Micro Finance group called Shinners and started saving 200 per every week. In 2007 August I had started experiencing pains in my legs and so I was unable to continue with my duties. So I was terminated on medical grounds. On 2009 September that when I started my business of selling new and “mtumba” clothes. In 2009 that when I also got my second born son. So am a mother of two handsome boy and married.

My Business

In 2000 when I completed my education up to form four I was given my small piece of land by my father where I planted vegetables. I was able to make a profit of 260/= to 300/= shillings per day i.e. selling of Tomatoes, Vegetables and Cabbages.
After moving to Naivasha in 2006 I had a small capital of 10,000/= where I was able to start a business of selling new clothes and “Mutumba” clothes. I used to go to Nairobi {Gikomba} and westleigh to go for the clothes during my off days. The other workers used to come in the evening after work to collect clothes. I used to make even a double interest with my business. I continued with my business very well until when there was post election violence and most of my customers were forced to leave for the sake of their lives. They left with a lot of my money and that where my business dropped.
In 2009 October I started a hotel business which I did for only 6 months. And on april 2010 I applied a loan of 60,000 which I was able to pay until 2012 August. The money I got am able to manage a business of selling clothes which I need someone to take me further so that I can sell more cloths and open a big shop for new clothes and ‘Mutumba’ Cloths. Thank You
