My name is Ngunjiri Daniel Ngunjiri. I am married and blessed with one beautiful daughter. My family and I live in Nairobi Kenya. I possess a college level of education; having acquired a Diploma in Applied Statistics from the Kenya Polytechnic (Today’s Technical University of Kenya).
Currently I operate a small business enterprise dealing with Graphic Design and Printing services, which has been my source of livelihood for the last 8 years. I’m also involved in integrated farming to supplement on my income.
I have a strong passion for poultry farming and I’m in the process of starting up my poultry project. I have just completed a poultry structure to house an initial stock of 300 local chickens; with a projection to increase this stock to 1000 in the next 12 months.
I am also a published writer with 1 book title to my name titled “FOOTSTEPS FOR VICTORIOUS LIVING”.
I am in the business of offering printing and graphic design services. This includes the design and printing of business cards, letterheads, flyers and brochures, newsletters, magazines banners and a lot more. The business is small scale but self sustaining.
In a bid to fill the gap for food security in Kenya, I’m diversifying into agribusiness with a focus on food production. My first key project is chicken rearing, with my focus geared on an improved local breed (Populary known as Kienyeji) developed by the Kenya Agriculture Research Institute which has higher yield, lower maintenance and greater resistance to diseases.
This project is also aimed at empowering the community around my farm since I’ll endeavour to encourage them to start up similar projects (though smaller) in a bid to enhance their own nutritional requirements as well as improve their income levels as well.
I will purchase 300 day old chicks @100 each worth Kshs30,000. The loan from Zidisha is to be used as additional capital to what I already have from my savings. I have a been doing mixed farming in the past and have developed a passion for poultry farming in a bid to help alleviate our food security problem. As the market for eggs and white meat continues to grow, I want to take advantage of the already existing market and need for these products. This is a venture I intend to focus on and grow to greater heights as it will not only empower me but also empower the greater community around my farm.
