About Me

I first got a hand in business through my mother who was running a market stall.
she single handily managed to Educate 5 kids and take care of our needs through it.
we did not have luxuries, but we never lacked.I got so much inspired by her zeal.
During school holidays, I would lend a hand and it was great experience for me
I am a single mother of 3, after a divorce.am teacher by profession, I lost my job during Kenyas post election violence and started a business of selling clothes.
It has been good but not without challenges.
when i cut through the challenges and look back, there has been a sense of satisfaction.
I have seen my business grow and am happy about it.
I would in future wish diversify but within the same line of business.
I am sure, through zidisha, I will certainly make my own small contribution to my society.

My Business

I have see the business grow and it has been supporting me and my children.
If advanced some money, i would wish to add stock and start selling men's clothing.
Currently, i sell women and children's clothes only.I would also want to start selling women's hair things in the future
My locality has been very favourable for me as,its a busy place.
The business is profitable as the in terms of overheads, i dont inccur much expenses
I run it myself and the rent is affordable.

Loan Proposal

I will purchase men's clothing, Costumes, Socks, Vests and shirts with the funded loan.
This will be a starting point for me to start men's items on my shop.It has not been so good for me to sell" i don't have" when i have male clients coming to the shop.
I call them to come and buy items for the ladies in their lives and they generally ask if i have anything for them.
I will grow from there, into other clothing for men.
As we head December, business is generally good and am sure I will do some good business.
I will buy my Items from wholesalers who bring from Nairobi.
Its my desire that one time, I will be able to travel to Turkey, or Asia to sell in retail as well as wholesale.

    Dear lenders,

My name is Traci Yoshiyama and I am a Client Relationship Manager for Zidisha.

I have spoken with Ms. Karugu and unfortunately she had to close her business. She does though have an interview this week and hopes to return to work soon. When she is able to stabilize herself, she will resume making payments.

Ms. Karugu, we are so happy to hear that are recovering well and we wish you the best of luck on your job interview! Lenders, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

    Best regards,
    Traci Yoshiyama

    Dear lenders,

I spoke today with one of our volunteers in Kenya, who managed to get in touch with Ms. Karugu. He shared the sad news that Ms Karugu was diagnosed with cancer, and this is the reason she has not made her January and February payments. Fortunately, Mr Kenga reported that Ms Karugu is being treated and is expected to make a recovery.

We will share more news as we receive it. Best regards,

    Julia Kurnia
    Director, Zidisha

May i send my heart-most gratitude to my Lenders and to the entire Zidisha team for the noble work you are doing to build small businesses which majorly support most families in Africa.
I got my first loan from you, yesterday and am very grateful.
I will go to Nairobi on Monday and make my purchases since towards the end of the year, we expect business to be better.
I have gone through my repayment schedule and I will honor my obligation for the mutual good.
Kind regards to the entire team and God bless you.
    Nelly
