About Me
I am a 22 year old female Kenyan citizen and the owner of Christine Hair and Cosmetics Products situated in Ruiru Town. I live in Ruiru behind Kenyatta University Ruiru Campus near Jipan Hostel. The locality is called Gwa Kairu.
I hold a Diploma in Business Administration from Nairobi Institute of Business Studies.
I started the business back in 2011 after clearing my Diploma. This was after securing a job proved to be rather difficult. I had Ksh. 20,000 that I had saved and used it to start up the business. I catered for the licence, securing a shop (rent and deposit) and stock worth Ksh. 10,000.
The stock includes artificial hair, wigs, weaves, perfumes, hair oil, shampoo, hair chemicals and relaxers.
My Business
At Christine Hair and Cosmetic Products, we offer a variety of beauty and hair products ranging from those used by children to adults. Mostly, we concentrate on women products though also we do store some men elegant cologne.
There is high demand of my goods since now most people in Kenya especially women are trendy and fashion something they value most.
I have managed to stay on top of competition by the quality of goods I sell and the friendly service I offer to my customers. I always ensure that the customer leaves my store happy and satisfied, hence they do come back with their friends. This makes my customer base to grow.
This business requires someone who truly does his or her research well. One should understand every customers' preference and be able too advice them accordingly failure to which should a customer be dissatisfied, chances are high that he or she wont come back again.
Fashion changes everyday, every time. Hence, the more the creativity and invention of other ways of doing things, the better the future of the business.
Per month I manage to get a profit of Ksh. 7,000 per month after deductions of expenses. I am saving to expand my store and enlarge my market to another town- Thika. I also want to further my education and pursue a degree in Business Management. Through this, I will create jobs and increase my skills into managing my business.
Loan Proposal
I will use the loan to add a wider varietyof stock to my business. I will use Ksh. 2,000 to advertise my business and also create a website for it so that it can be known through all means. On social platform, I will open up a Face book fan page where I will engage in my own personal advertisement of the business.
I will also also use Ksh. 2,000 to acquire certification on my business and become one of the registered members of the Beauty and Cosmetics Organisation. This will make my business to become more trusted by my customers and attract more.
The remaining amount I will use it to start another branch by first securing where the store will be, then from the proceeds of the next months, i will furnish and stock the next branch.
