About Me

I am Purity Karisa fourth born in a family of three sisters and three brothers. I am a born again christian and i have a passion to become a gospel artiste one day. I love to travel, socialize, and to help others. I finished my secondary school in 2006. After school i started a business of selling clothes. My eldest brother gave me a financial boost start the business as i searched for a job. The business was very challenging since i had to get mutumbas  by myself without any help. I worked hard to be independent and to put the business up and running. I was doing very well at the time as i was able to pay my house rent and cover my expenses, although it was barely enough to put it to savings. I forged on and worked hard until i was able to smile my way to the bank because i was eventually able to make good savings. I could offer part of the money to orpharge to help needy children through our church program.Later, i assigned my sister to take over my business when i got a job as a messenger in a hotel. My aim was to increase my income from both entries. I was dedicated to my work. I made sure i delivered the mails on time to the extend that my boss was very pleased with my work. In 2010, i enrolled a course in hotel management specializing in customer care, inventory and book keeping. I successfully completed my course in 2012 and resumed selling clothes. My sister had been very supportive to my business. My business continued to expand and i got more regular customers. I have been in mutumba selling bisiness up to now. The business is stable but where i work, the space is to small. I plan get a big a big store for keeping my stock and and another to to open a textile shop.

My Business

I sell mutumba clothes. This are second hand clothes. I sell both men and women ware. Mutumba dealers 'drop' their supplies on a market day and retailer step in to choose mutumbas of their choice depending on colour, size, fashion, season price, and so on. Most resident around the Coastal region prefer mutumba clothes to brand new types. This is because these clothes are affordable threfore they are in high demand. I choose this because because where i live, there arw not many sellers in this business which gives me a competitive advantage. I have good customer relations which is an added advantage for attracting customers. I also offer fair prices which an average customer can afford and this has expanded my business. I operate on an open shade where i put my clothes on display.I sell men's trousers, shirts, t-shirts, socks, caps, hats, shoes, belts, sweaters, vests, underwears. Women clothes include, dresses, skirts, bras, bikers, cosmetics, tops and many others.Customers buy mostly in the afternoon. At Coastal prrovince, business picks during high season because of incoming tourist and is low in low season since there no many tourists. During high season, i make a profit of Ksh. 4000 and diring low season, a profit of Ksh. 1500. This has encouraged me so much that want to expand my business and open a big textile shop. Mutumba business has very low risks and the profit is big since i get mumbas at a very low cost. I would like to be a beneficiary of Zidisha even on future because it is offering interest rates that are very affordable to us. I pray Zidisha wins a prize for how it been able to touch our lives.

Loan Proposal

I have plans to open new store as i do not have enough space to keep my mutumbas. I am forced to congest incoming stock with the issued stock. This make it very difficult when opening my bisiness in the morning. I plan to rent a business premise and use the current premise for storage. I am reqiured to pay Ksh. 30000 to get it and i have already paid Ksh. 15000, i will need to build some structures for display, it will require around Ksh. 10000. I have found a stratefic place for the premise and even paid deposit so that it may not be sold to somebody else. Most importantly, the premise is at a junction where people pass when going to work and when going home. During rush hours anybbusiness that operate around that pont is earns a lot of money. I have my friend who opened just a small open air display for selling shoes and within a month, she has moved to her own premise and is doing very well. I also plan to open my premise there because there is no one whose is selling mutumbas and i did a research and found customer wandering about as they look for mutumbas with no luck. I know mu mutumbas are going to do very well. The premise in question has enough space and a room for display. I want also to get a trading license from town council for the new premise. I hope Zidisha will help me pay for the premises and i promise to pay back in time.Thank you.
