I was born in the outskirts of Nairobi but moved to Nairobi with my mother. My dream has always been to be self employed so as to provide employment opportunities to the youth. Last year i started a hot dog business but since i was in dire need for money to pay my school fees i sold it to raise fees. I was making over 500 shillings a day yet i had studies to concentrate on. I had two employees who i paid 300 shillings. If it went well i would have expanded the hotdog business to other neighbourhoods like i want to with my chapati business. I believe in challenging myself to reach my full potential which is being fully financially independent
I have a food vending business whereby i am in partnership with my two friends. we supply Chapatis(made of wheat flour) to gated communities through orders they make over a mobile phone number we provide to our customers. We make an average profit of Kshs.2100 a day and with that we split it three ways for individual development. If i get a loan from zidisha i will be able to expand to the neighbouring gated estates which were recently opened and start my own kind of delivery business. My business partners are never around or serious so i think this will be the best opportunity for me to go the extra mile. Through this i will be able to repay the loan on time if i combine it with the current revenue i get. We decided to start this business because many people do not like cooking chapatis because it is tiresome, time consuming and expensive to make at home. Through delivering chapatis to clients at home it will save them time, energy and money and the need to go into a restaurant, queue then buy the chapatis over the counter. My monthly costs is usually Kshs.15,000. In a month i make a profit of Kshs.21,000 after splitting our total income three ways.
I will use the loan to buy a chapati making machine.Through it i will make many chapatis in a hour than i used to before. This machine will enable me to save on time and money which i initially used to outsource labor during making the chapatis. The loan will also help me get another delivery boy who will assist me deliver the chapatis quickly and more efficiently. More sales will enable me to repay the loan quickly and in the end grow and expand my business as planned
