About Me

My names are Patrick Njogu, and I’m a 24 years old businessman, in a family of three and single. I live in Marshlyn Apartments, Church Rd, Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County. I am a student in Nairobi aviation taking a diploma in Disaster Management and Preparedness, and also, I operate a small retail shop in Ongata Rongai. I started the business so that it can support me in my livelihood and also to help me pay my college fees, since my parents are unable.

My Business

I sell basic commodities like sugar bread floor eggs etc My neighborhood is so populous, with so many people who need my services on a daily basis. Customers prefer buying from me because my prices are competitive and I’m always on time. This business is profitable because the demand is high than the supply. Usually the risk my business faces is goods going bad due to lack of a refrigerator. My monthly cost is Kshs. 16, 000, which include rent, electricity and other utilities. I make a sales revenue of Kshs. 30, 000 which leaves me with a profit of Kshs. 14,000.

Loan Proposal

i will use the loan to increase stock in my business and also to buy a refrigerator which i will use to keep cold drinks, milk and other perishables which i sell in my shop.

    Dear lenders,

My name is Traci Yoshiyama and I am a Client Relationship Manager in Kenya. I recently spoke with Patrick and he informed me that he was admitted into the hospital for the past two months. He has fully recovered and is now back at work, but because he was unable to work while he was ill, finances have been challenging. He hopes that he can resume making payments soon.

Thank you lenders for your patience! We wish Patrick and his family all the best.

    Cheers,
    Traci

    Hello Lenders,

My name is Vivien Barbier and I’m one of the Zidisha current client relationship interns for Kenya. Today, I visited Patrick and his business.

Patrick’s shop is small but full of supplies. He buys most of his product in Nairobi and then brings them using a public bus. He is also selling fresh pastries that are delivered to his shop everyday at 6am. His carful stock management allow him to never have to throw anything away.
Patrick’s has already one employee who takes care of the shop with him.

When he is not working for his business, he is studying “disaster management” at the aviation school. I was very surprise by these two things: first disaster management university program really exists and second that the aviation school was teaching something else than piloting a plan.

Patrick will finish his studies in March and he will then try to work for the government or a NGO.
