About Me

I am the eldest in our nuclear family. I have other three siblings (Grace Wambui, David Gitau and Mary Waruinu). Mary leaves with my father and mother in Maraigushu, Naivasha. David leaves in Nairobi whereas Grace leaves in Kongoni, Naivasha. I am aged 27 years. I leave in Molo town.

I am a University of Nairobi graduate. I studied economics and sociology. I work as an article writer for online companies. I have also been investing in farming.

After graduating from University of Nairobi in 3rd December 2010, I was unable to get a well-paying job for several months. Around April, 2011, I decided to try article writing so that I could get income to service my bills. I found the job to be interesting and have been doing it until today. However, 6 months ago, I realized that I may not earn enough from the writing job to guarantee my future success. Thus, I decided to start investing in potato farming. I started with a half-acre which paid well. I found this to be a great opportunity. I realized that I can earn much more if I expand the investment. I believe that such farming can be the key to my future success if I expand it. I am planning to expand the areage to atleast 15 in 2-3 years time if I get enough capital. The loan can be of great help to me.

My Business

I have constant income from my article writing job. I get paid twice a month. Thus, I have a guarantee that I will be able to raise enough cash to repay the loan in the required installments.

I decided to grow potatoes in Molo because the area has conduce weather conditions. All other factors needd to grow potatoes are present and the area is very productive. Thus, the risk of failure is low. Also, the demand for potatoes in many parts of Kenya is high. There is good infrustracture that enables transportation of potatoes from Molo to other parts of Kenya. Therefore, there are minimal risks associated with the market.

The cost that wasincurred in growing the potatoes that I sold one month ago was Kshs 17,500. The revennue that was realized after selling the produce was Kshs 65,000.Thus, I believe that there is a great opportunity that can help to open my future success if I expand the investment. The amoount to be derived from the investment will also be used in repaying the loan. By securing Zidisha loan, I believe that it will take me less than three years to realize my dreams.

Loan Proposal

I will use this loan for the purpose of cultivation. This is the best time to engage in a one-year land lease contract. The land lease cost Molo for one year is 10,000. I will use 10,000 for that purpose and the rest in purchasing other materials required. I already have potato seeds but will need to add more. I estimate that additional potato seeds worth 5,000 will be needed. I will use the rest of the money in purchasing fertilizer and any other material needed. For now, I will cultivate 1 acre of potatoes and hope to expand in the near future. I will be able to repay the loan since I have constant income from my writing job. My main aim is to build my reputation and securemore so that I can expand the investment.
