About Me

I hail from Bomet County of the Kenya in the southern Riftvalley.Am aged twenty four and a second born in a family of four. I completed high school education in the year 2005 and obtain good results. However my parents did not have the fees to take me to the university and life became very hard for me.I stayed at home for almost a year assisting my parents in the daily work. Later on I was asked to teach in a neighboring secondary school owing to my good results an offer which I took. I was now able to support myself and also my brother who was in school. While teaching my dream of getting to university was still fresh in my mind.I then applied for a degree course in education at Kenyatta university which was successful. The offer came at a time when the thirst for education was all what I wanted.I was also to pursue my studies through a distance learning program which means that I was able to teach as well as study. In the year 2008 I relocated to Nakuru and have been teaching in various schools .Currently I teach at Vanessa grant girls in Rongai, Nakuru a boarding school for girls. While in Nakuru I thought of a project which could be sustained and which would help me pay school fees for myself. The idea of poultry keeping came to my mind and I borrowed a loan from Jikaze group which I was a member and together with my savings I constructed a poultry house and bought 102 layers in September last year.First the project was sustainable and was able to deal with it without interfering with my work.Initially the poultry needed a lot of attention and was forced to hire somebody to take closer look of them. They started laying on February this year and I began selling the eggs on march.I have been able to sustain myself by paying school fees for my university where am currently on my fourth and final year of study. From the project I have been able to assist my brother and sister who are in school.Am in need of financial to help expand this project.

My Business

I have a poultry project and currently I have 102 layers.I collect around 100 eggs everyday which translates to 3000 eggs a month.I sell the eggs in trays.and sell for 240 shillings for each tray.I therefore make 24000 shillings every month.I spend 12000 shillings on buying the feeds for the layers which therefore means that I make a profit of 12000 shillings every month. The demand for eggs is very high and my customers compete for the eggs. They sell at 300 shillings per tray and therefore able to make a profit. They are very happy with the price I offer them.Am currently intending to buy 50 more layers in order to meet the expected demand from the market. The main challenge am facing is that the feeds are very expensive and I have to spend some money from my salary buying the feeds as I wait for my customers to pay.

Loan Proposal

I wish to buy 50 more layers to increase my profit and also to be able to meet the expected demand from the market. The addition of the layers will also go a long way in enhancing my business and hopefully in the next few months the project will be so motivating.I will keep posting you on the progress as soon as I start.
