About Me

I am 21 years of age, a student, a teacher proffesionally and an efficient businessman. I did my O level in the year 2009, which i qualified to join University of Kabianga to pursue a degree in bachelor of Education Science. Am a third year student and currently off-session till march, 2014. I implemented my agricultural knowledge to begin as a small scale farmer, this made me request a piece of land from my beloved parents to do my farming. Idearly i kicked off with a small number of birds. I rear hens(birds) at my home. I am single, a kenyan citizen by birth and from a middle family economically. I have four siblings and i help my parents to cater for our and their needs. I am a christian and a believer. I currently work as a techer at Murungaru Secondary School.

My Business

I have a Poultry business which i started late last year. I currently own a total of about eighty Chicken of which twenty of them are layers. The twenty layers lay approximately twenty eggs a day. This earns me a daily profit of ten shillings per egg, which amounts to two hundred kenyan shillings per day. Its a net monthly salary of about five thousands kenyan shillings. I normally invest this amount to the business in order to grow it. This amount is usually not enough to cater and help me overcome all the risks and uncertainities, at times, there are several risks that may occure, like disease outbreaks which are not curable like newcastle disease. This brings a great loss to the business and in order to overcome, i am forced to vaccinate my birds and add more birds to try and avoid this risks. other shortcomings are storage and transportations. I do short distances supply but via a very poor transport system, i would like to purchase materials like trays which will enable proper storage and transportation. I supply to two institutions and one market shop which altogether consumes more than my supply. If my poultry farming can be increased, i'll be able to supply enough to my customers and inquire for more orders.

Loan Proposal

I wish to show my gratitude to zidisha community and my previous lenders. due to the loan you lend me, i was able to overcome one of the challenges i face. i purchased enough feederes for my birds. This helps in maintaining poultry in that they are fed on clean feeds and water daily. I request this loan from lenders so that i finally overcome the major challenges i face. I will use the amount in extending my pen and structure. i will ensure spacious room for the birds, easy to clean and collect eggs. I will then subdivide this structure and build a pen for my fourty chicks which are one week old. please help me fight this problem.

      Hi Racheal,

I made a detailed follow up today at 11.01am . Stephen contact is still not working. I phoned his CL whose contact is not working also. I phoned his inviter, Elijah, who acknowledges that Stephen had an accident( most likely a road one). Then immediately after he relocated from Nakuru, his relations hometown, to Eldoret. His Inviter also has not communicated with Stephen since he moved.

Interesting his brother, Wilson, also has never heard from Stephen since then. I asked for Stephen's new contact & he says he also knows of the one that is not working. I've requested that he finds a way to pass the message to Stephen that Zidisha community is earger to hear from him & affirm his commitment to repay his loan.

      Thank you for your patience.

      A concerned VM.

    Hello Lenders,
I am a volunteer with Zidisha and Stephen has written to us today to inform us that he has been very ill. Due to this he has been unable to operate his business and he is also facing high medical fees. He asks for your understanding and patience as he recovers.
Thank you for understanding and for supporting Stephen!

    Mr. Mbugua,

I see you are Mr. Kenneth Kandie's VM. He has fallen behind in his payments - he is now $50 in arrears/nearly 5 weeks behind - and he has not responded to 2 messages I sent him.

Could you please check up on him and find out what is going on? I would also like to know when he will start repaying.

    Thank you,
    Cris

I hereby wish to reshedule my loan repayment, reason being that i have a good source of income as i am a teacher and from my poultry business, I have a slight change in my daily income but still are some challenges hindering me from a good income daily. I therefore, wish to repay the loan in due time for me to be able to borrow more, aim is to use it in building a well structured pen for my birds, as this is the main challenge i face in my business and wish to overcome it as soon as possible. Hope you consider my request, thank you.

I gladly want to thank zidisha microfinance organization community for giving me this opportunity to borrow via the community. I did recieved my first loan amount of $50. Secondly, i give gratitude to my lenders for their genuine help. This how i account for the loan, the loan bought me five feeders as i had planned which costed kshs. 2,900. The remnant added to part of my savings,i purchased several egg trays. This turns to be a step in growth of my poultry farm. I plan to invest 80% of my montly net profit in the business and by so doing, my business will extend and grow. Through zidisha, i overcame some of the challenges i used to face, only have several left which may be a threat to my business. My pen is quite small as compared to the number of birds, this may force me to allow some the birds out during the day, this may be dangerous and my end up losing some due to predators and theft. If i may be able to build a large pen which will hold all my birds comfortably, then i can be able to overcome this problem. I look forward to borrow an large amount that will help me build and increase my birds. Thank you very much.
    Regards!
