About Me

My name is Cecilia Njeri Gathitu . I am married and have four children first born is in form two and the last is in class one.
I come form Karunga Centre just as you come from Nakuru on the Nakuru/Nyahururu road you reach a centre called Maili Saba you branch on your right, you take a rough road go past St. John Secondary School then to Karunga Centre. From karunga you go to a place called Kahuho next to St. Francis Primary School ask for Muraya’s home.

My Business

I have a general shop at Kahuho Center and I also do the cereals business where I buy and sell maize. From these business I get about 60000, I also do farming business where I grow crops for sale and for home consumption from this business I get about 250000 so the total annual income is about 750000 per year.

Loan Proposal

I would like to add a new stock in my shop. Now that the festive season is around the corner during this period many people buy goods for season and they buy in large quantities so it would be very good for me to have good stock which will include almost all the commodities required during the season. I thank the Zidisha Team for the first loan it came on time and I was able to get good profit which enabled me to pay the loan and also had some money to cater for my family and was able to buy 50ftx100ft plot. Thank you very much Zidihsa Team.

Hello, my name is Dan Cembrola, one of Zidisha’s Kenya Client Relationship Managers. I am currently visiting Zidisha borrowers in Nakuru and its outskirts.

The village of Kahuho is located about 10km into the Bahati forest. Agriculture is the prevailing industry in this region and many of its inhabitants have recently taken advantage of loans from Zidisha to expand and improve their farms and farming techniques.

Cecilia grew up in this area, so it not surprising that she has a vast array of knowledge of farming and much practical experience to go along with it. Prior to receiving her first Zidisha loan however, Cecilia did not have enough space on her property to put her farming expertise to use.

Upon receiving her first loan, Cecilia was able to lease an acre of land. She promptly planted maize, potatoes, and cabbage and purchased fertilizer. She has already harvested the potatoes and cabbage once and will soon harvest her first crop of maize. With the proceeds from the potato and cabbage harvest, she was able to buy additional seed to begin growing again and she added a few sheep to her now growing farm.

The added income she has received from the rapid growth of her farm has allowed her to hire some local laborers to assist in harvesting her crops. With her next loan, Cecilia plans to continue to expand her farm and to purchase the land outright.
