About Me

I was born in Kisii county, I am the last born born in a family of five. i later on joined my primary school in St. Don Bosco Boys primary school in Ogembo town and joined Kisii High for secondary school in Kisii town after successfully finishing my secondary school I joined Nairobi university where I studied my BSc Mathematics am working at Kenya Commercial Bank. Since needs are always more than the resources I decided to start a business at Verovian Ngata gate 15 kilometers from Nakuru town, I run it as my part time job where it is manned by my Wife. I would like to expand this business to be able to satisfy the ever increasing needs.

My Business

I operate a single shop located at Verovian Ngata gate 15 kilometers from Nakuru town I have been operating it for the last one years. I sell fast moving food stuff which present a ready market. I also sell cereals such as Maize, Beans (all types) peas, kamande and Maize flour. I buy the cereals during harvesting season from the shamba when they are very cheap and then dry them, treat with pesticides to avoid piercing by the weevils to maintain their quality awaiting the higher prices, My business is profitable because most of the families use them as a staple food and therefore it has a consistent demand through the year. The competition is not high because I buy the cereal during harvesting season when it is very cheap and sell them at a fair price. Most of my customers are families (sell in retail) and others are learning institutions. I use expenses of 55,000 in a month to cater for transport, rent, electricity, purchases and pesticides and have an average of income of 80,000 in normal times but 120,000 during peak season.

Loan Proposal

I would like to thank Zidisha for giving me an opportunity to expand my business. It is harvesting season in Njoro and Molo they are our neighbors (Nakuru town) farmers in these areas are large producers on Maize, Beans and potatoes. I will use my first loan to add my stock on Maize and Beans which are always on high demand. I will go directly to the farmer this will enable me get my produce cheaply I will later on sell at favorable prices to my customers this will ensure I have the best price in the area and thus high sales turnover at the same time beat my competitors.
