Hi zidisha lenders i am Yegon Philemon a VM to Racheal Kinyanjui and i contacted her she said she is slowly recovering from the loss the business suffered when was torched by thieves early this year. She is determined to be paying slowly by slowly until completion. Security reason has pose a treat and most entrepreneurs here face this challege and however much they try to their best to overcome this. She is pleading to lenders to just understand and allow her to pay small until she finishes the debt. Wish her the best and will contact her again to find her business progress. Thanks

    Dear lenders,
This is Analin Saturria McGregor with Zidisha's Communications team.
One of our Volunteer Mentors in the Nakuru area talked to Rachael recently and learned she was a victim of theft recently. This has constrained Ms. Kinyanjui's business not only in depriving her of money earned from her activities, but also making access to new merchandise more difficult.
We know from other members that security is a growing concern for many Kenyans, especially those in newly developing residential areas. Some of our members have seized the business opportunity in providing security enhancements, and have security-oriented businesses. I specifically remember a gentleman who makes fences and another gentleman who breeds guard dogs.
The lack of access to savings products poses an additional threat for small business owners, as very often they must carry large amounts of money on their person and do not have a truly safe place to store it. Unfortunately, clever thieves can pick on that and take the first opportunity to strike.
Ms. Kinyanhui is slowly recovering from her losses and will continue making small repayments as she's been doing since last month in order to catch up with her pending repayments.
