About Me

I am married with four children.i live in ruai, embakasi next to a chiefs office.I am a business man dealing with metal fabrication under foxfarm general agerncies.I started business because of the expenses and university fees for my children .With the earnings i get, i buy machines like recently i bought 3 welding machines worth 130,000,2 grinding machines worth 45,000,1 drilling machine 11,000 and working stock(metals) worth 50,000.I train youths on metal works e.g in fabricating gates, doors, windows ,grills, stairs, tables, stools and general welding

My Business

metal fabrication is very important in domestic use thus leading to an increase in the demand of my products .we provide our customers with very good finishing and my supervision is good and the fact that we have minimum repeat jobs.We also have proper security and some of my finished goods i transport them to my residential home(own home).my typical monthly typical costs are around 100,000( without net of labour , rent and power which is about 60,000) thus leaving me with 40,000

Loan Proposal

If granted the loan,i will do the following
replace one old welding machine @ kshs 30,000
add one more grinding machine @kshs 20,000
The rest kshs 50,000 will be used to buy working stock/materials for metal fabrication .
This is to inform you that since my previous loan which i got in January,2012 from Zidisha Inc., my business has grown two fold(doubled). And now i have more customers than before.I believe that the next loan will boost my business probably to three times.

    Dear Mr. Opondo,
have you heard from David Kiburi lately? You're his Volunteer Mentor, and he's very close to finishing paying back his latest loan, but we haven't had any news from him.

    All the best,
    Mårten

Hi to Zidisha and my Sponsors.please note that these attached photos are the latest from my workshop,I hope they will sell like hotcakes. The only thing is that the business is a bit low but i hope it will pick up after the budget is read.
I hope to communicate with you later. It is unfortunate we were not able to meet the Director-Julia K. when she came to Nairobi.

Greetings lenders! My name is Neil DiMuccio, and I am a Client Relationship Manager with Zidisha in Kenya. I am currently visiting borrowers to learn more about them and support them with their Zidisha loans. It is my hope that this work will build bridges to better connection and understanding, and that Zidisha and its borrowers will increasingly grow, communicate, and support each other.

I was able to briefly meet with Vitalis Opondo recently, who is a very outspoken man and a proud business owner in Githunguri / Utawala, some 25 kilometers east of Nairobi.

Mr. Opondo is in the business of metalworking, and offers a large variety of services centered around residential and commercial construction. During our brief visit, Mr. Opondo showed me his shop and some of his gates for sale. These items must be in high demand, given the need for tight security in Kenya. Indeed, the prices he asks for these gates reflect a high level of craftsmanship, as well as likely strong demand in the market.

Mr. Opondo has been a Zidisha borrower for quite some time, and is Community Organizer with Zidisha. Community Organizers are trusted persons who maintain communications and spread the word about Zidisha, as well as offering to help applicants and new clients. Community Organizers are thus vital to Zidisha’s operations. Please join me in thanking Mr. Opondo for his service to his local community, as well as our global community!

In addition to wanting to meet me and show me his business, Mr. Opondo also had a number of questions and requests for me about new applicants and borrowers. Mr. Opondo, I forgot to tell you – if you ever need more support kindly send a text to Zidisha’s Kenya SMS line: 0701-246-957 (no calls, SMS only), as this is very fast and efficient way to get answers you seek.

Thanks again, Mr. Opondo, and best wishes for all your future endeavors!

Yay! Your initial repayment on this loan is the first I have ever received from my borrower-friends on Zidisha. (I haven't been a lender for very long.)

I continue to look forward to your reports of business growth and the good things happening in your area and sociey.

May God bless and keep you as you walk in His ways.
