i am a young man from nakuru county, nakuru constituency, solai division. Plot No. 650 solai. personally i do farming and livestock keeping. educationally i am a holder of a form four certificate, and also a computer certificate in packages, i attended a horticultural diploma in Egerton university. and now am taking farm and livestock keeping as my personal business and also a source of income.

My Business

i farm cabbages for commercial purposes and they usually do well as long as their is maximum rain. for now i am yet to transplant my cabbages from the seedbed because the rain is not continues, i will be forced to buy a money maker machine so as i can be able to pump water from the source, and supply the cabbages with water to avoid them from wilting or drying up. the market is always good in November and December with maximum profit. the crop is ready for sell in three months time, and i do my timing in the month of November and December where the plant have high demand. afterwards i get back in maize crop and others and also keep up in livestock.

Loan Proposal

if you fund me with loan i will use it to buy a diesel water pump that will help me pump water from the source and irrigate my crops. (cabbages and few tomatoes). i will also be able to buy enough diesel and also the rest amount will help me pay the laborours who will be doing transplanting of cabbages and tomatoes. i will be so much glad for your sincere support. thank you zidisha

    Dear lenders,

We have been attempting repeatedly to contact Mr Macharia and the person who had signed a recommendation in support of his application to join Zidisha for many months.

Finally, one of our volunteer mentors undertook a long journey to visit Mr Macharia's hometown from a different part of Kenya. He found that Mr. Macharia had long ago left the area, and nobody could inform us of his whereabouts. The pastor who had recommended Mr. Macharia had likewise moved away.

Should we succeed in reestablishing contact and recovering repayments for this loan, the funds will be credited to your lender accounts.

Please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected], with any questions or comments about this loan.

    Regards,

    Julia Kurnia
    Director, Zidisha

Thank you! No need to explain about your family issues: that's private. It's just good to hear you're safe and okay. That matters more than any loan or any money. Best wishes!

    "Dear quescout
I think all your comments are tongue in cheek and are not about joseph macharia s loan at all.You enjoy winding people up and causing controversy.I think you are an internet troll. You care little for the feelings of joseph macharia.or the other members. Please do not pretend to be offended by this as I am sure you relish conflict and you would be most upset if everyone ignored you. Hi Zidisha Family. My name is Shem Ageta and I am one of the volunteer mentors. I visited Mr Joseph Macharia's village {he is late on his loan repayment} on the 20 February 2013. My marching orders were to locate Machariah's residence, find out what is happening with him and to report back to the Zidisha team, I began by understanding the area and locate his home without raising any eyebrows from the neighbors. armed with his profile information I traveled from Mombasa (where i had gone to attend Training Session for Max Security as the trainer and resource person) to Nakuru then follow the Bahati Route to Solai on rough and dusty road. at Solai where i arrived at sometime in the afternoon. I hired a motorbike to go up to the hill country of Solai where Mr Macharia's home is located. To Continue

Hi Shem Ageta, Did you get a chance to see how Mr Macharia's was going? We hope everything is ok with Mr Macharia's and his farm.

Mr Quescout ... This seems to be the only loan you've made. If this is how you lend, i.e. without a heart to feel for borrowers or a mind to listen to other lenders, then I frankly think the world would be better off with you scrooging your own money. That's my thoughts. If I have misjudged you, then I do apologize.

Other lenders have pointed out the nature of agricultural incomes.
Other lenders have verified Mr Macharia's worth.
    I need say no more.

      dajawein,

How rude are you. Rude enough to write " without a heart to feel for borrowers or a mind to listen to other lenders, then I frankly think the world would be better off with you scrooging your own money. "

You know nil of me and you make rude unsubstantiated comment like that . You nasty gun jumping, rude person.

      Let Start:
      1. "the only loan you've made" Bull Sh*t I have other loans with other organisations, your assumption is unfounded. How rude are you?

2."without a heart to feel for borrowers" This is the one that sent me off the deep end what what what. Talk about pulling a rabbit of of the hat ,. How rude are you ?

      3. " the world would be better off with you" - good , I was on the verge of suicide anyway - you are correct, but..... How rude are you?

      4. " scrooging your own money" Fu*ck off dajawein - Very rude indeed

      5. " That's my thoughts. If I have misjudged you, then I do apologize." Your thoughts are worth nothing if you arrive at the conclusion by using assumptions only, even the thought of apologizing. Damage done - How stupid are you?

6."I need say no more" depends if you foot is still wedged in you mouth.

      The Facts:-
I made the loan whilst I was out of work and had no income. I feel for underprivileged. At home I am a volunteer for 8 years, overseas I deal with www.kiva.org/

I thought that Zidisha would have followed up on the loan to see if Joseph Macharia had encountered difficulties. When I saw other members asking about this default loan it sounded like nothing was being asked. I do expect the people getting the loan, do need to understand it is a loan which forms part of their venture and needs to be adhered to by making the payments or letting the loaners know what is happening. How can these wonderful people learn otherwise. My 1st "test" loan failed, and hence my comment. One burnt, twice shy.

      Final Note:
"Some people are so poor that all they have is money." I had never heard this before and thought it is one of the best statements I have ever heard. I Thank you for that.

Unfortunately this member has put the 2nd bad taste in my mouth. Please tell me it is an isolated incident.

      How rude are you ?

I've loaned to Joseph before, and he paid back the money. I believe he will again this time too. I just think you have to be patient because if something unexpected comes up, then it may take time.

joseph macharia has failed to pay back on my 1st lend. If this is the way loans are paid , then I am out. I am also out there actively degrading Zidisha's name to all my friends. NO MORE LOANS, loans are NEVER paid back.

Quescout. I've lent to joseph macharia previously and he paid the entire loan back within three months. You just have to be patient. Some time things happen that you can't expect. Also especially with agriculture things can happen and you don't usually earn money constantly usually you get it when theres the harvest.

hi quescout, I second the previous comments in response to your remarks and can only underline that sometimes one has to be patient and there are usually very good reasons for delay. Joseph has an excellent record and I am sure he is a hard working farmer. Zidisha's record is very remarkable given the comparatively much higher risks its clients are exposed to and I don't think it is fair to express such disappointment towards the entire organization..

How are you and your farm doing? It's almost Chirstmas, and I was wondering whether or not you celebrate it. I don't know a lot about Kenyan culture and I'm curious. If so, Merry Christmas!!!!!
