About Me

I was born and brought up in Kisumu, attending Kondele Primary School and later completing Kisumu Boys High School for my O level certificate. Later I attended the University of Nairobi for my Bachelor degree in 2010.
I moved to stay with an uncle in Nairobi.
while at my uncle's place, I contacted neighbors who had a busy schedule to let me run their errands like queuing up to pay bills on their behalf, delivery, picking their children from school and many more.they gave me money in return and I was able to build a small house for chicken with the help of my uncle.
He has a large farm near the city so I saw an opportunity to utilize the readily available market.
I want to grow this business to a level that can sustain me and perhaps pay my college fees as I intend to further my education.

My Business

I have started poultry farming.
I buy five day old chicks and raise them for 7-8 weeks before I sell them to hotels and institutions around my locality.
I chose this kind of business because I attended a seminar where I was thought how to raise chicks and best practices to ensure i get the most from my money and partly because It was what I did most from my childhood.
3-5 days chicks cost $1.5
cost of keeping one chick for 7-8 weeks is $3
after 7-8 weeks, one chick can be sold at $6-$7 hence a profit of$ 2.5-$3.5 per chick.
presently I have 50 chicks.that could be a return of $125-$135.
I intend to use my revenue to expand my poultry business.I have a target of reaching 500 chicks in the next one year.

Loan Proposal

I would like to buy an incubator for 28 eggs which i had started paying the deposit and is under construction which will cost me $60.This will help me grow my business, up keep for my baby and my wife and if all goes well with the business i plan to pay school fees for 1 child in the from Seme (rural areas in Kisumu county)to reduce perpetual poverty in kenya.
