hi.am seven born child in a family of eleven. i was raised by a single mother after our dad passed when i was 14. i was privileged to go school up to tertiary level. immediately after school i started doing manual work. i was able to save enough and started commercial farming although in small scale.
Through farming i have been able to open this clothing business in nakuru town. this was necessitated but fact that although we get enough rainfall it comes in seasons so sometime during the year you can idle waiting for rains. in future i would like to do irrigation farming of course with availability of fund and suitable land. through this two venture am able to take my kids to school and i would like to reach their limits in education. nakuru town is the fastest growing town in kenya hence there a high traffic of people and goods which translate to a good market for the goods especially food, clothing and housing. although i like football i prefer being in farm during my pastime.
the purpose of applying this facility is to increase and diversify my clothing business.in this business i deal with seconds hands clothes which i source locally through businessmen who exports them. i sell both men and women ware. nakuru town host a population of over one million people and serve another three million surrounding population who come to town for banking, market and administrative needs.this is a big population in need of clothes and they create a ready market.
I choose this business because i realized there are only two item which are basic to the population ie food nd clothing. i usually restock weekly depending of the week and this can cost around an average of ksh 40000. with this i can earn a profit of average ksh 6000. i use this income to pay for schools fees for my two kids, home improvement and to restock the business.
There a certain class of people who prefer new clothes over secondhand clothes especially men and i would like to capture the two markets. with fund of around ksh 5000 i will entirely buy new clothes especially trousers and shirts. for new trouser i intend to buy 10 which will cost 30 dollars and similar number of shirts 20 dollars. with this new stocks i project it will increase my business with revenue of about ksh 5000 monthly. i have planned to p lough back the revenue after repayment of the loan to the business for the first six months. after that i hope i will be having a bigger stock which translate to higher revenue.this in turn will improve my family livelihood and reach my goal of doing irrigation farming.
