I am Raphael.
I was born and raised in the rural life of Gatundu District.
Ours is a coffee zone and the disappointments from the little or no earnings we received from this plant made me hate to suffer as a coffee grower.
I went to primary school level and after class 8 I could not proceed with high school due to lack of funds - Ours was a humble family living from hand to mouth.
I started growing vegetables for sale and I saved enough to buy a goat.
Due to unreliable rain, I could not continue to grow vegetables, so I continued to rear the goat.
My business involves rearing the goat, and once its mature, and have given birth, I sell the mother.
I rear the kids and the cycle repeats. I would also keep a goat for our family and give them for Christmas.
I chose this business because it gives me a good profit to better my life.
One goat coast USD 90.
I am still single and the profit I get is to better my life. I have already built myself a residential room and bought furniture for it.
I want to grow this business by adding another goat to increase livestock for sale.
Given this loan, I would buy:
1 She goat USD 50
Build the shed: USD 30
Buy fodder: USD 20
This will help me in the following:
- I will have a bigger shed to rear the goats.
- I will have more profit because I will resell more goats
As for others, my family will benefit with manure for planting and during Christmas holiday, I will give them a goat.
The profit is expected is 100% because I will resell the goat after first birth and having fattened it ready for market.
