A friend introduced me to this business. Her mother has a clothes shop and most of her clients had a need for dressing accessories to match the clothes they purchased, but had to go all the way to the city center to have them. My friend took up that challenge to meet the need of the clients there and then she was into business.
After university, I needed a job so badly, as my mother was terminally ill while even in school, so my home was so constrained financially. I flooded many companies and firms with my application letters, but with no favorable response. I joined the Unemployed Graduates Association (GBESS) in my country. No response from those quarters too, though I presented a lot of proposals as was the requirement.
Through this maze my friend introduced me into this business. I even started the business with a small amount of money as capital. My dream is that this business will grow into a wholesale and retail outlet.
The culture of my people is a culture of hospitality, community, and business-minded people. Matching of colours, interior and exterior decoration, and landscaping are hobbies that naturally come to me.
I provide dressing accessories including earrings, neck chains, wristwatches, bangles, broaches, hair pins and ribbons, belts, lip shine and gloss.
These items are of everyday use in nature which one can't do away with as it serves the need of individuals and it is a basic necessity.
This kind of business does sell irrespective of the season, though sales levels are not fixed (it varies) but sales are made which keeps one in business and at the same time helps to meet basic needs.
Cost is $70 and revenue ranges between $80 and $150.
I use part of profit to reinvest back into the business and pay sibling school bills.
These are the products I will buy when my loan is granted:
1. African Beads =$20
2. Neck Chains =$25
3. Earrings =$5
4. Bangles =$20
5. Broaches =$15
6. Ribbons =$10
7. Lip Gloss =$5
Having this inventory will help me serve my customers better by having stocks ready to sell to make more profit, as these loans comes with a good interest rate and flexible payment, thereby enabling ploughing some of the profit back into the business, and also buying medicine for my sick mother and supporting my siblings.
