I am julius kemboi.l stay in nakuru.my childhood and adult life has been in nakuru .l schooled in barut primary and my secondary was in menengai highschool nakuru. After that l went to college for art and design.
I hav gone through alot of hardships but emerged stronger.l chose to remain positive and join business groups around where l work.they support me alot.so l overcome through that support.
The culture in nakuru is cosmopolitant kind of setting and people are attached to the land making it what people value most as it apreciates fast.
l started my curio shop 6years ago after college.nakuru being a tourist center is what made me to start a business that would tap on business brought by tourism
when my children grow up l would like the best of what l never had.l have to suport them in school and would like them tobe teachers.as teachers shaped my life
In my free time l mentor children in art and design and make them feel with what they like doing.
I have a curio shop that is located along kenyatta avenue and opposite mericca hotel.l sell wood curvings stone curvings and also drawings done one clothes(batik)these are ornamental items.
when tourists come to kenya they like taking back with them a sourvenir and also something to add beauty to their houses.l also make bangles that are also worn by the locals some hav names inscribed on them.
l started this business when l realised my tallent if making such items and saw the tourists and locals as being a strong market for me.
I make profits in this business and in a month averagely l get between $170 and $200 .this money l expand my business and pay my bills and take my kid to school.
Thanks zidisha for offering opportunity to be funded and improve business and in the end improve our lives.when l get the funding this is how l will be able to use the money
l will use $90 to buy the materials that l use to make the items and $10 for transport.its during this festive season that people buy more of these ornaments so as such l would like to have the materials and make the various items available.
