About Me

My name is Antonina Agola. I was born at Eldoret-Uasin-Gishu County, Kenya, on the 20th of November, 1977. I went to school at Kapsowar Primary School for my primary education and later I joined Mosoriot Girls High School for my O-level education. Later, after doing my K.C.S.E . certificate level, I joined Eldoret Polytechnic for a short course in Hotel Industry.

After graduating from my hospitality course, I was employed at Kabarnet Hotel in a position of service to the customers. I had been in employment for the last seven years until I got small capital to start my small hotel in Moi’s bridge town. I preferred my own business since I had so many thing to cater to compared to the small salary I was being given while in employment.

My Business

Since self-employment was my passion from the days of my employment era, a day came and I opened my own business. Today I own a small hotel [restaurant] located at Moi’s Bridge town. I preferred to open it here since there is a heavy human traffic all day long and there are few hotels along this street, creating higher demand for my customers. The food business is a day-to-day activity and the people in the community have to eat in order to live.

My hotel has four permanent workers with whom we work as team players. My business is registered with Uasin-Gishu County Health Department and also licensed by the same body in annual trade permit basis, which is renewable at the end of expiry of the year.

I love my work because, since I started the hotel business, my customers have never let me down. I offer my services in cash terms basis. All my food is prepared daily and on time: that is why most of the customers come for the healthy eating in my hotel.

For the month of April the sales were as follows:
Net sales from the hotel sales: Kes. 85,250

The expenses were as follows:
Raw foods and soft drinks: Kes. 35,980
Labor force (chefs & servers): Kes. 28,000
Transportation of raw foods and beverages from town: Kes. 3,000
Trade license fees: Kes. 1,000
Miscellaneous: Kes. 7,000
Total expenses Kes. 74,980

Total net profit (April): Kes. 10,270

The total net profit is shared in my family's daily needs, and I also save 20% each month to improve my small hotel in the future.

Now that Zidisha Microfinance is here, it’s my humble request to the management to assist me in buying bulk raw materials (raw foods) for my hotel so as to cater to more customers and minimize the cost of the food, thus making the food prices cheaper.

Through the assistance from Zidisha, I believe that I can make it and make a lot of revenue in providing the customers with the services they need and at a competitive price. Also, I will expand my small hotel for customers' sitting capacity.

I believe that, through Zidisha’s lending hands, my dreams will come true. Thank you and God bless Zidisha and the entire team.

Loan Proposal

I believe that, through your kind assistance, I will be able to cater my customers in large numbers as soon as I get the Zidisha loan. Reason is that I will buy large amount of raw foods and soft drinks from the local supplier at a wholesale price. This will make an impact on my hotel, as it will pass the benefit to the customers, allowing them to pay less for the services in my hotel.

My budget is as follows:
(a) 48 pcs of wheat flour at kes.4,704
(b) 20 liters of liquid oil at kes.2,310
(c) 300mls assorted bottled sodas at kes.4,18
(d) 5 kgs local sugar at kes.550
(e) 1 kg tea-leaves at kes.150
(f) 64 pcs Nescafe sachets & 24 pcs milo sachets at kes.648

The above items will make my customers come for their favorite drinks as well as enjoy the delicious chapatis made with the liquid oil. I will be unique in using the liquid oil compared to my competitors, who usually use the solid oil, making their chapatis harder. Kindly, lenders, make my hotel a modern class through the loan funds. Thank you and God bless you all.
