About Me

Good morning Zidisha team.My names are Mary Njeri Mbugua.I am a mother of three children.I was born on 10th June,1985,being the third born in my family of seven siblings.I was born and grown up,went to primary school in Londiani farm and later moved together with my parents in Eldoret,where i joined high school for O level education.After my schooling,i got a B+ for which i had qualified to join the University,but due to the fact that my father was the only bread winner in our family made him to lack the school fees to make me join the University.
This made me to pave way for my other small siblings who were still schooling in secondary school .Out of this situations from my family,i was forced to talk to my aunt for some assistance in paying my college fees,since she had requested me before,not to be idle at home doing nothing.I later accepted her pledge which happened to take me for a Vera beauty college in Eldoret town.The short course took one year and nine months for me to attain my diploma in Beauty therapy.
From the college,i got an attachment which lasted for six month and out of my hard work,the owner of the salon employed me and i worked for another two year until i had some capital to start mine.This is how i got started my own salon.

My Business

I operate a salon business here in Eldoret town,Uasin-gishu county,Kenya.My salon is called Melsie beauty point.My salon operates under the County by law and has a valid annual license issued from the local authorities.I have been in this business for the last one and half years now.In my salon i offer services like,weaving,curl-kitting,eye blow shaving,hair blow drying,wash & set,selling small cosmetics items among other services.
I started my salon with a small capital of kshs.30,000, which included buying of the salon equipments, hair chemicals and paying the salon rent.Since i opened this business i have been getting more customers whom they are refereed by the old customers.They prefer my services since i offer quality services,neat and pocket friendly.In a good busy month my salon make a sale af between Kshs.6,000 to Kshs.10,1000.From the ever growing demands from my customers,the salon needs more hair chemicals as well as the hair conditioners.From the support of the Zidisha Microfinance,i will be able to buy this goods in plenty/bulky from the distributor in town at a relatively prices,which i will lower my prices for the services to my customers too.Also i will make my customers not to be waiting for long time as it is now for me to buy the chemicals from the nearby cosmetics shop and at a retail price.I believe that after the loan funded to me,my salon will have a better and new face to my customers and as a result i will be getting more customers,time efficiency and also make good sales.Thank you Zidisha team for the support in my business.
