My name is David Meli from Kaptembwo in the outskirts of Nakuru town in Nakuru county ictor Kipkurui. I am 33 years old, a first born in a family of four and I am a carpenter.
I am a graduate of a certificate course in Wood work from Olessos polytechnic in Nandi County. After looking for employment for more than one year without success, I decided to use my skills to set up my own workshop around home.
I spent my friend time watching movies and taking nature walks.
I am a carpenter by profession and i own and run a workshop in Nakuru town- Kaptembwo estate. I emphasize on wooden furniture especially chairs and tables and also beds.
The business is my main source of income supplemented by my small farm that is mostly managed by my wife. The workshop has suatained us for more than 3 years and I am currently planning to expand.
For the last three years, i have been using a small cubicle house in Kaptemwo estate. It has been good but not very strategic. I recently acquired a new room- bigger and in a very strategic place- along Shabaab road and I am yet to move in.
With alot of responsibilities at hand, it is very hard to save and stock additional materials especially timber that is very expensive. Currently i normally wait on the customers to pay some deposit so that i use to purchase material.
With the relocation, I would like to improve the size of my business by diversifying my products and even hire an assistant to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Therefore, I will use the $100 loan to purchase addition materials especially timber and joinary materials that will help me improve on my work. Adequate material will enable me make ready products for display which will attract more business and save on time.
