About Me

Hi to you all in Zidisha .My names are Hellen Nyokabi Karanja.I am 32 yeras old and i come from Mawanga estate,Nakuru County,Kenya.I am a mother of three children namely,Mugure-13 years old,Joseph-10 years old and Wanjaa-7 months. The two do schooling at the Harambee Khalsa primary, and im left with Wanjaa whom i am is still breastfeeding her,so most of the times i am with her despite having a helper who baby-seats her everyday while i attend to my hotel.I am a wife to Mr George Ndegwa and a small scale business lady here at Green-site Shopping Center.I do my own business of fast-foods restaurant. Thanks alot.

My Business

Since i am a mother of three children,I do all it takes to supplement my husband income by involving myself in small business of fast food restaurant right here at the Green-site Shopping Center. My involvement in practising the fast foods came in my minds early 2010,when i was laid off from the service in one of restaurant in town where i was working as an employee. This gave me a challenge as to why i have to be employed while i can do my own business. From the small saving i had,i approached my husband for more financial support so that i can venture in this industry. My husband is an understanding person and so he tried all he can and supported me with Kshs.30,000,in addition to kshs.50,000 i had from the savings. In total i started my restaurant with a capital of Kshs.80,000.This made me to look for a room and within no time i was able to get a double room at a strategic place for a restaurant.
This gave me a good start since i had an experience on the fast moving foods like chips, samosas, kebabs, sausages & smokies, chapatis and refreshments like sodas and bottled water. The business started with a high gear since most of my customers are the workers who operated in this road, neighbours, and passer-by customers. This made me to look for another 2 more workers whom even todate we are working together as team in satisfying my customers with their favourite dishes.
Since then, the business has grown more and that is why i have been willing to introduce more African dishes like ugali, githeri, pilau among other delicious foods. That is why i came to your rescue in Zidisha Microfinance for support with some capital boost so that i can buy the raw foods for the preparing the delicacies.I believe that since the center is growing in population,i am convinced that i can handle more customers in one sitting since the room has a sitting capacity of 30 customers at once.Currently in a week,i do get a profit of between Kshs.10,000 to Kshs.15,000.This will make me target more sales and i can assure the whole Zidisha fraternity and the lenders that from the profit i now gets from the current sales i can comfortably service my loan in weekly basis and on time.Thank you in advance for the support and God bless you all.

Due to unavoidable circumstances,I had been behind in my loan payments due to the illness my close relative had. This has been making me to close my business almost on a daily basis to look after the patient in Provincial hospital. As a result,I am pleading the zidisha to reduce my pay down-wards until i resume my normal business.Thank you for the understanding.

Hallo my worthy lenders and the entire zidisha fraternity team.It is a good day here in Kenya, though for this week i have been channeling this week profit towards the license renewal. This has made me to be slow in my payments although from 25th day, next week,i will have resumed to my business fully. This will give me time to combine the profit of that week where i will have returned to normal in my loan repayments.Thank you for now and welcome.
