About Me

I am born to a family of 4, two brothers and one sister. They are all in college now. My parents are alive and they are farmers. I started going to school when I was 4 years of age. I did my primary school, then secondary school. I performed very well and I went to university where I graduated with first class honours in economics. Currently I am working on masters degree programme but funds become a challenge for my family and me.

I had applied for a masters degree programme and I was asked to bring my undergraduate thesis to the panel for approval. Since my home is in the rural area, I could not receive the information of this crucial requirement prior my the interviews. I travelled the day before to the city, only to learn that evening that without my undergraduate thesis I was not going to make or rather pass the interviews. To make things worse, I did not have funds and my home was far from the city. A brilliant thought came across my mind and I asked my brother who was at home to catch the bus and travel to the city with my documents. I sent him the money that was meant for my fare back home. He travelled that night and arrived three hours just before my interviews started. By conquering this obstacle, I achieved my dreams and now I am masters degree student, though funds is a challenge to me.

My people love hunting in the bush. One funny thing about my culture they hunt animals such as antelopes and birds. They use these animals for ceremonial functions like weddings and circumcisions among others.

My Business

Poultry farming is a great business in my country. Buying incubators and hatching chickens is a lucrative business. I grew up in my family seeing my parents doing this but in small scale business where they just allow hens hatch eggs after 21 days, then raise them after which they sell to hotels and restaurants. I want to take this to a greater level. I choose this business because I have passion for it and I know I will make good money from it. I will buy one incubator that will hatch around 200-250 chickens, then after 2-3 months I will be able to sell them. I will buy modern food for the chickens for them to grow faster and gain weight, thus increasing my sales.

Chicken has white meat which is popularly known as a healthy diet compared to red meat. As a result, chickens are on high demand as compared to other types of meat. I will be making a revenue of $35 dollars per month. This will enable me to reinvest in the business, afford my school fees, paying rent and food.

Loan Proposal

I am doing Poultry farming whereby I will buy eggs and put them in an incubator to hatch, after which I will sell when they 2-3 months. I will use the money that you will give me to buy the following: I will buy 5 trays to put eggs while hatching in the incubator. This will cost $20. I will 200 eggs to be hatched in the incubator. This will cost $15. I will buy layer mash (100kgs) and growers (50kgs), of which this will cost $10 and $5 respectively. After 21 days after eggs are hatched I will divide the 200 chickens into two, I will sell 100 for $12.5 and the remaining 100 will raise them then sell after 2-3 months for $200. The reason why I sell the 100 chickens after hatching them is to get money to re-invest in the buying of eggs in order to hatch continuously and not stopping till the 2-3 months is over. Another advantage is that I will be getting money in the middle of the month, this allows me to have an easy time in repaying back the loans. In my calculations I will be making over $35 per month, after expenses are deducted.

I will benefit from this because, I will be able to get money to reinvest in the business, also pay for my school fees, pay rent and afford food. For my customers, Chicken has white meat considered healthy diet. This will give good health to my consumers in hotels and restaurant. To my market people, the restaurants and hotels, they will find easy ways of accessing chickens in good time. For those buying young chickens (pullets) to raise them, they will find it cost effective because they do not afford to buy incubators. I want in future I buy more incubators and maximize the business. Your help will boost me in great deal, I will appreciate.
