About Me

I am Kevin Omondi, born in Kisumu County and being brought up in various towns, i.e. Kisumu, Kakamega & Nakuru Town. I am the 4th born of six siblings. I have gone through primary and secondary education.

After my secondary education, I was unable to continue with college education, and by that time my parents relocated to Kisumu from Nakuru Town. I travelled back to Nakuru Town, where I was familiar, and started doing casual jobs for various companies and even construction sites.

During that time, I started saving some money to start my own business sometime. In October 2013, I moved to Ahero, where I established the business of selling bags.

I am a devoted Christian and a church schoolteacher (Sunday School) for children from age 3 to age 10. I love singing, making new friends and travelling.

My Business

Currently I am operating my own business of selling bags, ranging from school bags to traveling bags and many more. I started this business from my own savings that I had saved while in Nakuru doing casual jobs.

Since I came to Ahero, my business has grown tremendously, because in this place the locals were waiting for the market days so that they could buy bags, where the market days were only one day per week because those who were selling bags were traders from Kisumu Town, about 22 kms from this place.

I buy these bags from Nairobi, where I buy them at a very good price, making me able to sell them here at very reasonable prices. Opening this business here has caused the local shop owners to outsource these bags from me, and so I supply them to their businesses. I do [concentrate] so much on the good quality of the bags, making my customers trust me more.

Currently my business is operating at about USD 1,350. The profit that I make from the business I use for my daily upkeep, and I have some for savings & for future expansion. Thanks in advance for your kind support.

Loan Proposal

My appreciation to the entire Zidisha team & Lenders for this opportunity,my business has received a great boost from this platform to benefit and grow. This loan i am going to spend it on purchasing Traveling & School Bags at a cost of USD 100.This increase on this bags will be of great boost to my business because the bags are in demand for this season as the school going pupils will be reporting back to School after the Holidays and travelling bags are in high demand also. The profit i will use it to restock the bags ,pay my bills, use for the upkeep and also will help me to repay the loan.Thank you so much for your kind support.
