About Me

My name is Jesee Wachira, a shoe vendor based in Mombasa City. I came to Mombasa to look for greener pastures having left home some three years ago after completing my secondary education.

I did a course in clearing and forwarding during my stay in Mombasa and later secured a job as a clerk in a clearing and forwarding company here in Mombasa. I later lost my job through retrenchment when the business went very low at the company. I used my terminal benefits to buy a few pairs of shoes to resell to friends.

I had made a good number of friends while I was employed and they really supported me in this new business. Using the proceeds, I increased my stock and I managed to open a shoe stall mid last year and the business is doing quite well.

My Business

I normally buy shoes from wholesalers in town and then retail them at my shop. I occasionally go to neighboring countries to get shoes which are not available in Kenya. With time, I have managed to get a wide variety of shoes for all ages and sexes. This has attracted a lot of customers to my shop and the future looks bright.

However, I still have some challenges in that I would like to stock many more different types of shoes so as to cover all classes of people. For now, I am mainly targetting the low income shoe wearers since I sell cheap shoes with the most expensive one retailing at $20. With time, I would like to penetrate into the more expensive shoes so as to serve those who are high up in the society. For this to happen soon, I need credit support hence the reason for joining Zidisha.

Loan Proposal

If given this loan, I will use it to buy 3 pairs of expensive shoes at a total $90. I want to use this as my entry point to the lucrative segment of shoe market. I have people in mind who will readily buy them since they are my regular customers and they have been asking me to start selling such shoes.

I hope to increase the stock of such shoes in due course and I am sure that it is going to be a success. I am hoping that once the stock rises, I will be able to double my net income ( I currently make around $200 per month) in about 10 months.

Please fund this loan since this is a very viable business. Thank you.
