About Me

My name is Jacinta Nyagititu. Born and went to school in Kiambu County. I come from a family of 5 where I am the last born. We were born twins but sadly my twin sister passed on at an early age. I am a mother of two girls. I did my primary and secondary education then went to Mombasa to stay with my sister. While in Mombasa, I did a course in computer applications and hair dressing later started my own business.

I got married shortly thereafter but unfortunately my marriage didn't work. My husband was very abusive and we separated after two years of marriage. I had closed my business when I got married so that I take care of the family. It proved very difficult to revive the business after the separation due to emotional stress and lack of capital.

I decided to go back home to my parents and start re-building my life from there. Luckily, my mother accepted me back to her home and she helped me start a small kiosk from where I sell household items such as sugar, cooking oil etc. I am planning to start livestock keeping by buying one cow so as to supplement my income because the demands from my family keep increasing.

My Business

As stated above I run a kiosk where I sell small household items. I have erected the kiosk in our compound and which is a big advantage since I don't pay rent. I buy my items from wholesalers and then sell them as a retailer.

I make a modest profit of about $100 per month and I use this money for my children's education and other basic needs. However, as my family grows (I also support my aging mother) I need more income than what I am getting.

My parents own a piece of land which I feel if well utilized can be more productive and even support livestock keeping. My immediate plan is buy a mature in-calf cow. This will guarantee me a regular income after some few months which will go a long way in changing my family's life.

I have decided to settle here in the rural area since I found urban life to be too hectic.

Project Proposal

I opened a small kiosk where I sell common household items such as flour, sugar, cooking oil etc. I will use this money to buy such items then retail them.

My crops are still in the farm. I can only afford to pay this for now but I will increase it once I start harvesting the crop.

Hello all, I have been unwell with eye problem. I am still under medication and this has affected my cash flow. I am kindly asking to allow me to adjust my weekly payments to KES 100/- until I recover fully. Thanks.

    Hi Jacinta,

How are you doing? How are the cows, the crops and the kids? I hope everything is going well.

If people pay late I usually go for the advance repayments from the fund in order to keep the dollars in circulation but I try to be patient with you. :)

    Love,

    Tomi

I received 29,757 KES last week. I was given a discount and used the money saved for my children's education. I bought the cow I wanted over the weekend and I have never been so optimistic. I will attach photos as soon as I get a cameraman to take a few pics- I live in deep rural and cameras are rare!
