My name is Emily Wafula ,born in was born in Bungoma county.my is was a teacher and my late dad was a soldiers .I am the second born in a family of seven children and the only daughter in my family.
since my dad was the mojor bread winner for our family life changed after his death since my mother could no longer afford the expensive schools he used to take us to.we had to cope. After completing secondary school my mom could not afford to pay my college fees since he was overwhelmed by the huge financial needs ,my siblings too were in high school. I requested my mother to support me with $100 so that i could farm and support her.I did not think I could make much money to even educate myself.i started growing vegetables in our family land. I sold quite a lot and I dont regret doing these business.
I am currently single and with no kids ,I love playing basketball, during my free time.I also watch documentaries and read inspiratinal books.
I am small scale commercial farmer and very positive I will improve my business and become one of the major suppliers of horticulture in our region. I grow traditional African vegetables, kale's,and tomatoes in my 0.75acres of land.
The demand for these goods is high due to ever rising population . Most of urban dwellers dont farm and entirely depend on rural communities for there supplies.
I choose these business because it require less capital to start .
I spend $50 in a month and sell $200 .In a good month my profits are average $150-$200 a month.
I use my profits to support my siblings education and reinvest in my business.
