I am Rose Waithira, a resident of Embakasi . This is a suburb approximately 20KM from Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. I am a mother and a business woman in the vicinity . Education wise I am an O level person. I refuel gas to the fuel users in my neighborhood and the business has grown speedily. I saw it vital to start such a business since there was none of the same kind around by then and people used to carry far their gas cans for refilling. With less competition and high population, I enjoy the service I provide to my fellow residents.
Without a doubt, fuel is a basic commodity. It pains me when I go two to three days without adequate stock for my clients due to lack of enough capital to pump into the business. This drastically affects my business at large. I find it risky to operate a gas centre without adequate and classic fire extinguishers. Also, after sales services are part and parcel of the growth of certain businesses like the one I operate. I would do better with pulling-carts for transporting the gas cans to the loyal customers’ residents for a mutual kind of togetherness with them.
It is an honour to get a loan from Zidisha organization. I would like to use this loan that I will get from Zidisha organization to do the following. Firstly, I would like to improve my working space. This means expanding the room that I usually operate in as the current one is very congested. I would also like to start selling paraffin alongside my gas business.
