I am 26 years old female student also in business,I come from a family of six (four sisters and a brother)and also an orphan,my parents died when I was 12 years old and I was brought up by my aunt.I have learnt to work hard since then and this has made me reach where I am today.I stay in a small room at Tom Mboya estate where I pay about 30 US Dollars for rent.I have done the business for 2 year now .I go for my parttime classes at Maseno University where I study business management. The unique thing about the land and culture where i live is that the land is so fertile and has alot of fish we get from lake Victoria. My hobbies are travelling, reading and making friends.
I offer sales of sodas, wines&spirits, phone accessories and phone charging services at my shop based in Kisumu main stage. The reason why customers prefer my shop is that i offer affordable prices on my products and also offer after sale services to customers especially those who purchase phone accessories we offer to replace the item they have bought to the phone freely. This attracts more customers to my shop as compared to others. At the moment, the challenge am facing is lack of airtime to sell to my customers and putting up mobile money transfer services in my shop. I would like to stock airtime and put mobile money transfer service. From sales of my products I make about 48 US Dollars per week and this makes it about 190 US Dollars per month. I have also hired a boy who assists me in the shop especially when am away briefly and when one purchases phone accessory ,he fixes it on the customers phone.I pay him 30 US Dollars per month depending on how sales is in a particular month. If granted a loan by Zidisha,I will be able to achieve more and raise more money from sales of airtime and mobile money transfer service hence this will leave me with good profit to repay my Zidisha loan and save.Airtime will give me approximately 25 US Dollars per month while mobile money transfer can give me about 100 US Dollars per month,I did this research from a cousin who has been in this business for over 6 years now.
