About Me
Hello! My name is Crystal Olisa and I am a digital content creator born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. I am an only child raised by a single mother, and I have just graduated from university with a part time job as an editorial assistant.
My Business
I currently work as an editorial assistant but my passion lies in my content creation business. So far I have worked with over 25 companies, three of whom are local beauty retailers and I have started to earn money from my video/content creation. I have used my salary as an editorial assistant to buy my equipment which is my laptop (Lenovo Flex 3) camera (Sony NEX 5t) and a new lens (50mm) because I believe in investing in myself. I currently run my youtube channel (youtube.com/olisaxo) and my instagram handle (instagram.com/crystalolisa) where I shoot, edit and publish everything myself. The majority if the companies that I have collaborated with for promotion on my channels are based in America, but more local companies are starting to understand the benefit of social media marketing and I currently have three local recurring partners for whom I create digital content. My average business costs involve Google advertising (about $60 per month) shipping costs to transport the products sent to my US shipping address to me in Kenya ($50 per month) and product purchase costs which can go up to $200 every other month. I reinvest any revenue I get back into my business through product and equipment purchases.
Loan Proposal
I am a digital content creator, which basically means that I work with companies to generate awareness and demonstrate the use of their beauty products. Since my business revolves around editing videos, the time I spend editing and rendering (processing the edited video) is a huge factor in how many videos I can produce. My laptop's hard drive has slowed down so much that it takes me at least 3 extra hours to edit the video down from the original hour or so to about 10 minutes, then another 20 hours to process (render) a ten minute video. When the laptop was new, a ten minute video would take 5 hours to render. I would like to purchase a new hard drive where both purchase and installation would cost me $120. Any money raised here would go towards paying for that.
