I am a Lady aged 40 years. I am born in easten province Meru District but lives in eldoret where i operate an office dealing with accounting services. I am born in a family of eight me included. I lost my dad in 1982 when i was merely 10 years old. i was therefore raised by my widowed mother who was a farmer. Besides offering accounting services i also do distribution of Tea leaves to retail shops within eldoret.
I am a from four graduate in accounts training up to CPA IV.
I have previously worked with a reputable Audit firm in eldoret, as an audit clerk, then proceeded to work with Shell & B.P. Depot as an administrative assistant. It was closed down and thereforei decided to start freelancing as an accountant, and after getting some clients, i decided to open an office for better services and serve my customers from a central place. i therefore registered my business in January 2013 as "LYDIA AGENCY TWENTY" in January 2013 with the registrar of companies.
I run an an accounting firm, that has got 15 limited companies, and 10 sole proprietor businesses. It is merely on year old and therefore i see it growing to higher heights.
What has attracts many of my clients to me is the fact that i am able to finish their work on time, present reports as need be and also the experience that i have in the field. Once i do fine work to my client, he refers another to me. Also, my business is located along Uganda road, therefore it is accessible. The other reason is the credit facility i extend to my clients who at times pay me later even after completing their work.My biggest challenge in this business is that there are so many accountants who operate freelancing without an office and therefore do not incur overhead expenses as i do so they end up accepting cheap payments from clients. Also, in my clientele, i have several newly registered companies who have not started operations and need their returns filed on monthly basis. This i do and the client is not ready to make payment since they also experience financial hardships. The freelancing accountants ask for cheap pay since they have minimal overhead expenses compared to me who has to pay Rent, electricity, Water etc. so, most of the business people go for cheap services. Alongside the accounting work, i do also distribution of teal leaves to retail shops. The major challenge to this is that there other brands of tea leaves which have been in the market for long, and my own brand that i do distribute is new .Most of the customers prefer certain old brands that has been in the market for decades. Therefore penetrating into the market has been slow but by God,s grace, i have some positive response from the clients. The demand for my brand is increasing on daily basis, and i cannot raise enough to meet customer demands as at now. Filling Tax return for my clients gives me at least Kshs 30,000/= per month while the tea leaves business that needs capital boosting brings at least 25,000 per month before paying the salaries. Since i separated with my husband leaving the burden of educating my three children to me, i need to keep constant supply of tea leaves in the market so that i do not lose the customers that i have already, and would like also to see my children through their education. I therefore need some financial support to increase my working capital. Again, here in Kenya, almost everything has gone online.
This starts with collecting of government revenue, tax returns, and operating with only one old computer is not enough. I also need a photocopier machine, an economical Epson printer, and installation of Fibre optical internet supply cable to make the work easier. Your financial support will help see my business grow to the next level. Thank you. Lydia.
I want to acquire a laptop so that i can use it to do my online jobs after official working hours. This laptop will cost me 45, 000 K.shs.
Most of my clients will not have to wait until last moment so that they can have their returns submitted, since mostly, the KRA website is too busy during the day and unnaccessible. doing their work on time will save them fines and penalties for late submission of returns.
After getting this laptop, i expect my performance to improve by 40-60%
Thank you
