About Me

I am a Tuarey jeweler since 1987. I live in Niamey in the sector Complexe. I went to school till primary level. As everybody else I have decided to start a business to meet the financial needs of myself, my parents and my brothers. I have 4 children. With the money of my loan I will buy pure silver metal to create beautiful jewels who will bring me a lot of money, because my work is of high quality. I am a master in jewelry. I even give trainings in jewelry, all people wishing to learn more about making jewelry contact me.

My Business

Our business is the Musée National du Niger. We make jewels in silver and we teach others how to make jewels. Long ago I have been teaching people from the West how to make jewels. They were all very satisfied. There is a market for our products because our museum is the only one in Niger and it is well known in the whole world, especially because of international fairs. Our artisan work is very rich. The clients prefer the museum because they get a warm welcome there and they find work of high quality. Everybody working with us knows his profession well. The revenues and expenses depend on the period and the amount of orders, the benefits also depend on the orders, but they are very substantial.

Loan Proposal

The loan will be used as follows: I will buy 10 pieces (250 grams) of pure silver metal because the jewels made of pure silver can be sold at a high price, especially if I send them to Europe, more precisely to Belgium or Switzerland. My nephew and my younger brother go to Europe 2 or 3 times a year. With 10 pieces of pure silver I will create 100 jewels of different categories. 100 pieces, even at 10 euro per piece, makes 1000 euros or 655000 FCFA.

Abdourahmane is not the only one not repaying.
Indeed there are too many out there, definitely not a good job on screening borrowers and in a couple of years my money have been halved.
Zidisha is more charity than microfinance

I am really sorry, team Zidisha. Things are very difficult for me in the last while. The reason for rescheduling repayments is that I have jewellery that has not yet sold. My brother transported them to France 3 months ago but has not sold any yet. When they are sold or when I get an order, I will repay. Once again, I'm sorry,
    Thanks.

I know that my payment is supposed to start today, but I ask for a grace period of 2 months simply because I make very pretty jewellery. I do not want to sell them here at a very low price, so I decided to send them to the USA and to Europe, particullary France and Belgium, there they sell not only for a very high price but also I could get orders. Zidisha will change my life and that of my family. Thank-you very much.

    Dear lenders,
My name is Mien, I am Client Relationship Manager for Zidisha in West-Africa. You may have been wondering why this loan, that has been fully financed since a while and also has been accepted by the borrower, has not been disbursed yet. Since one month we have been negotiating with our partner bank in Niger about free disbursement of our loans. The bank has charged us 11900 FCFA (23,60 USD) for each of the first disbursements we did in Niger. It is clear that Zidisha can't accept such fees and we don't want our borrowers to pay them either. Negotiations go on and may result in the decision to start a partnership with a new bank in Niger. We hope to find a solution during the next few days, in order to disburse this and all the other loans in Niger, and in order to guarantee the future development of our Niger program.
Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.
