About Me

My name is Benson Hongo from Kisumu Korando Village along the Kisumu-Busia road. I am married to one wife Diana Apiyo and we have been blessed with Two children; A boy Taji and a girl Neema. We have also adopted another girl Salma who is my niece but unfortunately was orphaned at a young age.
I stay with my mother who also operates a retail shop.
The kids are in lower primary.
I am a lay reader in our local church and also the current Parish Secretary.
I have plans to train as a Vicar.

My Business

I have ventured into selling Electricals and Plumbing parts, fittings and also offer advice to those who are building. I source for my items both locally and in Nairobi.
The items vary in terms of profitability with the first moving items returning small margins whereas the slow moving items providing decent profits.
My main clients are people constructing houses, those seeking to improve theirs and those doing repairs.
I am still in the marketing stages of the business and creating awareness on the same so that I can have clients aware of my products and services.
Capital has been a great challenge to my business and I have had to rely on family for support.

Project Proposal

I intend to purchase LED bulbs for resale. My area has many homes that have electricity and hence homes need quality bulbs. A bulb goes for between Kshs 60 to Kshs 90 and retails for a minimum of Kshs 100.
With the funding I will be able to purchase at least 50 bulbs and turn them around in about 2-3 weeks and improve on my stock levels. I can then use the proceeds to repay the loan as well as improve on stock levels
