My name is Wesly Mutai I am 22 years old married with one daughter. I finished my O levels in the year 2010. Since I could continue with college education due to lack of finances I decided to work in my nearby flower farm where I earn little money which can only cater for half of my basic needs. Thus I decided to start by rearing indigenous poultry which will not cost me alot of stress due to finances. I therefore started by buying 5 layers and a cockrel.
I am confident that if I rear a good number of these I will make a good earn out of it.
As indicated above I plan to rear indigenous poultry which will make good earnings. I assume that each day will earn me Ksh. 200 from the 10 eggs I will be collecting from the 10 layers. Thus in a month I know I will be getting Ksh. 6,000. This is only a start, also I will make sure that I multiply the same in about 3-5 months I should be having more than 30 chicks. I will also decide whether to sell the chicks when they will one months old at Ksh. 150 or I wait until they are mature where I can sell at Ksh. 500-Ksh. 700.
I am confident that this project will see me in a different platform of life. Everything will change drastically since my lifestyle will change from this project. I now plan to set up a structure from the loan I will get since my poultry structure is a small one which cannot contain 10 chicken.
I wish to construct a shed where I will be feeding them and also for milking. I intend to use almost Ksh. 35,500. The timber will cost around Ksh. 12,800 and the rest will be used to buy Ballast and cement for the floor. The profit from my poultry farming will cater for the person who will do that work.
By end of this year I expect to have bought 1 more heifer. I am sure this will make me make a good profit in a years' time.
