About Me

My name is Ruth Ndiru - a nurse by profession. I am currently working at Coast General Hospital - the second largest hospital in Kenya. I was born in Rift Valley region of Kenya where I went for primary and secondary education. I later enrolled for a nursing course at Kakamega Medical Training Center where I qualified as a nurse. I have worked here for the last 20 years. I am married with two children - a boy and a girl aged 20 and 15 years respectively. One is doing a course at Mount Kenya University and the girl is pursuing her secondary school education. I also do a side business where I run a photocopying bureau and money transfer or mpesa. My business is located within the hospital compound.

My Business

I do photocopying services and mobile money transfer within the hospital compound. I started this business two years ago after I realized there was a need for such services by the many patients that we get in the hospital. The hospital management was kind enough to allow me run this business within the hospital premises.
I have employed one worker who helps me run the place when I am on duty. The business is quite profitable since I am always assured of a steady stream of clients who visit the hospital all the time. I make about $400 per month. I am in need of a loan because I need to buy a larger photocopying machine which will increase my efficiency. The one I have is not meant for commercial work and it slows me down considerably. With this loan that I hope to get from zidisha, combined with my own savings, I am planning to buy a photocopying machine costing about $350.

Loan Proposal

I run a small computer bureau within the compound of the hospital where I work as nurse. I have one worker who helps me with the running of the business. I do bureau services such as photocopying and typing documents. I also sell soft drinks to many people who come to the hospital which is the second largest in Kenya.

I am currently using a small photocopying machine which is not suitable to serve the large number of clients that I have. My plan is to trade it in with a bigger one and I need %350 to do this. I have made savings of about $200 for this project and I am requesting for a loan of $150 so that I accomplish my mission.

The business is viable and I am sure that this will increase my profit margin and enable me to repay the loan with ease.

Thank you.
