My names are Joseph Maina a born again christian and currently living and residing in Nairobi where I work as a driver for a church organization.
I am married to my lovely wife Grace and we are blessed with a beautiful baby girl called Precious. We got married in 2014 and our daughter will be one year this August.
My home village is called Nyandarua which is in Central part of Kenya about 80km from Nairobi. I was born and raised up here in 1987 and went to schools in the same locality.
I enjoyed my childhood a lot with my friends as we had lots of things to do together, some of my close friends as a young boy are still my friends to this day.
I started working and living in Nairobi immediately after finishing my college education and later on got employed with in a church that I go to.
I have always had a passion for business as a young man and I then ventured out in clothing business as a side job.
I started this business with the savings of my second salary so as to add some more money in my pocket.
Life in Nairobi is very expensive and you have to do some other work to enable you to live a decent life.
I have a relative who takes charge of the business and on weekends, I am available throughout. I take stock and meet my clients so that I can know what my customers would like to have in my place of selling clothes.
I love watching movies and travelling as my hobbies.
In my business, I normally sell clothes for men, ladies and children. I have a stall near where I live and most of my customers live nearby.
I intend to also expand my business including shoes and jewelry. I took this opportunity to join Zidisha so that this dream will be actualized.
I choose the business of clothings as the majority of the people in my neighbourhood are young men and therefore "trendy" or fashionable. So I reasoned out that this is an ideal business idea.
The normal cost of my business is incurred when buying bales of clothes from wholesalers, this vary in price from the type and quality of the bale.
With the profits that will be generated from this business, I will expand my work and keep a little portion for a rainy day.
I plan in future to have a fully licensed fashion house where I will not only be my own employer, but offer employment opportunities to the many jobless youth in my neighbourhood.
With the loan that I am anticipating to get from Zidisha, I am planning to expand my business to a greater level.
The first and foremost thing that I will do is to add a variety of new fashionable clothings that are appealing to the younger generation which is my main customer base.
The second important thing is to include a variety of shoes which I currently do not have in store.
The following is the breakdown of my loan expenses:-
1. Adding a variety of new clothing...........................................................................$15
2. Adding shoes.................................................................................................................$30
3. Buying mirrors for customers to view how clothes are when worn.......$10
